Race 2 No3 BE FRANK (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Dane O’Neill

From a stable that had a juvenile debutant scorer last week, BE FRANK is a speculative advice to follow in his stablemate’s hoof prints. He shaped well to finish only just out of the money as a 50-1 roughie in his own introduction at Newbury and has shown in his work that he’s gone forward, and will know more.

Race 4 No10 PROSECCO
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

There are some well related colts in this mile novice but as the only filly in the field PROSECCO can trump the lot of them. The daughter of Gleneagles is out of a mare her trainer did well with, and if performing as well as she’s been working should go away with a cheque of some kind.

Race 7 No4 EXMINSTER (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

Having done us a favour with his win at York back in May, EXMINSTER is ready for a return to the winner’s circle. Although finishing nearer last than first in each of his four subsequent outings, the Ribchester gelding is now dropped into a Class4, and should feel more comfortable for that.

Race 8 No6 TARTAN CHIEF (Each Way)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Kevin Stott

Stott is an eye taking booking for the ultra consistent TARTAN CHIEF who after four near misses now has cheek pieces added. The grey found his best form as a juvenile towards the late summer, and with the headgear and a new jockey can see the door deservedly open

Trainer: Justin Landy – Jockey: Callum Bewley

While the promising Thermusa makes her debut under Rules, LADY STANWIX holds the advantage of already having jumped hurdles in public, when second to Happy D’ex at Perth last month. She too was useful in the bumper division, and can open her account in this sphere.

Trainer: William Coltherd – Jockey: Sam Coltherd

As long as there’s a decent pace in this two and a half mile novices’ handicap chase HIDDEN COMMANDER should add to his already impressive spoils. He is three from four since switching to fences, has been heavily supported on each occasion and arrives here fit and fancied after a short break.

Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

After making a promising introduction at Newmarket in the spring, SYNDICATED put in an underwhelming run when returning to action at Ascot’s King George fixture in late July. However, with the aid of a hood he scored impressively at Wolverhampton. He has to shoulder a 7lb penalty but has a good draw as he remains on the all-weather.

Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Sean Levey

Another looking to bounce back after putting in a howler is SUPREME King, who finished last but one when a 4-6 chance at Leicester. That is too bad to be true considering the strength of his earlier runs when second at Haydock and Goodwood, and he’s worked well on a Polytrack surface at home.

Race 5 No8 BOWMAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Laura Mongan – Jockey: William Carson

From stall 2 BOWMAN should be able to take early charge of this handicap round a right-handed bend and build on that advantage by the time he reaches the cutaway well over a furlong from the finishing line. He’s not been disgraced in any of his starts on grass, and went close as a 66-1 no-hoper on his only visit to this track in May.

Race 6 No8 WILLEM TWEE (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

The most interesting horse in action here is WILLEM TWEE. It’s true that he had his feathers ruffled when out of the money on his first attempt at a Class2 at Ascot, but it’s a mark of how highly his trainer thinks of him that he’s now running at an even higher level. The Ribchester colt is a horse to follow, and can make it a good week for his owner by backing up the Monday triumph of Gentle Whinny at Windsor.
