SALISBURY
Race 1 No3 DIAMOND COTTAGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Malcolm Saunders – Jockey: Fred Daly
DIAMOND COTTAGE is most effective at Bath and Chepstow but has finished second on three of her visits to this track. The mare didn’t appear happy on the Brighton undulations last time but is capable of bouncing back and should earn.
Race 3 No3 THE PARTHENON (Nap)
Trainer: Aidan O’Brien – Jockey: Ryan Moore
O’Brien breaks new ground with a rare runner at Salisbury and it can prove a winning one via THE PARTHENON. The Kingman colt was a late defector from his intended race at the Newmarket July meeting but seems to have been found a more straightforward task in this Stonehenge Stakes. He ran well in Group 3 company on debut before making no mistake when dropped in grade at Gowran, and can stave off the attentions of Listed second NEW CENTURY and unbeaten LUTHER.
Race 6 No1 JIMMY MARK
Trainer: Stuart Kittow – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
It’s hard to get away from hat-trick-seeking JIMMY MARK who is 4lbs higher than for his latest delivery at Ffos Las. The rise makes life trickier for him, but the way he won that day strongly suggests he’s still progressing.
FFOS LAS
Race 3 No2 PORT HEDLAND
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Nicola Currie
Currie is making the best of her opportunities with the Candy stable and can bolster that record on the unexposed PORT HEDLAND. The selection wasn’t far away on handicap debut last time and can prove a thorn in the side of paper favourite Smooth Silesie.
Race 4 No9 ELFORLEATHER (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
ELFORLEATHER had his race won everywhere barring the post at this course last week and should be backed to go one better as he got the trip well and has taken the exertions in his stride. He looked in good order cantering up the all-weather yesterday.
Race 6 No2 THE SMILING WOLF (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes
The diminutive THE SMILING WOLF returns from a mid-season break and may be good enough to preserve his unbeaten record at the course. He was a convincing scorer in a nursery here last September, but although his three runs this season have proved fruitless, he’s taken a drop in the weights.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 1 No7 INQUISITION
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
Sea The Stars filly INQUISITION is the subject of favourable reports from Freemason Lodge and can be a factor in this fillies’ novice. She comes from a very good family that her trainer knows all about, and requires a close check in the betting.
Race 4 No12 RING OF LIGHT (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Joe Leavy
Candy has engaged a good apprentice to take 5lbs off the back of RING OF LIGHT. The selection receives upwards of 3lbs from the field and showed with a very good earning effort at Lingfield last month that he’s on the cusp of a return to winning ways.
