NOTTINGHAM
Race 1 No4 RADIO STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: Sam James
RADIO STAR has troubled the judge a couple of times and has twice the experience of her opponents in a race that’s cut up favourably for her. The Starspangledbanner filly is a worthy favourite, and should open her account.
Race 4 No6 KING’S REIGN
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: James Doyle
KING’S REIGN has less racing miles on his clock than he foes in a very interesting staying handicap. He responded to first time cheek pieces to open his account on only a fourth career start, and first in a handicap, at Pontefract. He’s bred to appreciate going further on the distance ladder, and can take the spoils at the main expense of top weight ZIKANY.
Race 7 No7 WANDERLUST (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
On what is his final runner at Colwick Park, WANDERLUST can make her presence felt for soon to retire Stoute. The daughter of Waldgeist upped her game when making a podium finish on a first run on grass, and with a visor added, at Yarmouth. She is bred to enjoy the surface, and especially so if there’s plenty of cut in it as is the case today.
MUSSELBURGH
Race 2 No8 TATTIE BOGLE (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Cam Hardie
TATTIE BOGLE started favourite for her first race at Southwell but was unable to resist Empress Matilda. The grey has a nice blend of speed and stamina in his pedigree, and has claims to go one better as he will be a lot more streetwise.
Race 3 No6 MOUNT KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Amie Waugh
The last time Waugh partnered MOUNT KING the combination found traffic problems at a crucial stage of the race. The selection hasn’t managed to score in four subsequent outings, but gives me the impression he will pop up at a juicy price, and if not today then back on the all-weather.
Race 4 No4 ETRETAT
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning
ETRETAT got him by the skin of his teeth at Chelmsford the other day, and now makes a first visit to Musselburgh. He’s been a regular earner on grass, and that success may give him a timely confidence boost.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No9 ROMANTIC OPERA
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Dougie Costello
ROMANTIC OPERA lacks a previous outing, but against that is much better drawn for this race round a right-handed bend than market rivals Take A Breath and Zanzoun. If she can be alert at the gate this beautifully-bred filly can earn.
Race 6 No6 HAPPY HADEDA (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Hector Crouch
HAPPY HADEDA picked up impressively when notching a second at this course in September. She’s well regarded by her shrewd handler, and can make it three from three here.
Race 8 No7 ART FANTASTIQUE
Trainer: Tom Ward – Jockey: Neil Callan
Although he’s wider in the gate than idea, ART FANTASTIQUE figures to be dangerous in this bottom grade handicap. He’s made gradual progress from race to race this season, and if building on a very good run in defeat here last time can open his account.
