Goodwood Best Bet

Race 4: OPEN WIDE (2)
Trainer: Amanda Perrett
Jockey: Pat Dobbs

Five-year-old OPEN WIDE is a hold-up horse that needs plenty of luck in running, but is in such good order that an overdue visit to the winner’s circle could be imminent. He had to make his bid wider than ideal at the Newmarket Craven meeting and the way he finished suggests he is poised for a conversion. His backers might need to hold their breath but given racing real estate he can deliver.

Doncaster Best Bet

Race 5: NAHAARR (7)
Trainer: William Haggas
Jockey: Georgia Cox

NAHAARR is up against previous winners in Heath Charnock and May Sonic with the latter looking a dangerous foe, but this beautifully bred newcomer by Dark Angel is the subject of pleasing reports and can overcome his lack of a previous outing to score. His trainer has an exemplary record with individuals of his ilk at this course.

Thirsk Best Bets

Race 5: COMMANDER HAN (10)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan
Jockey: Tom Eaves

Kevin Ryan looks to one of the biggest races in the Thirsk calendar to give COMMANDER HAN a winning opportunity and I think he has found it. The selection wears cheekpieces and isn’t the easiest to win with but in this big field he can hopefully arrive late on the scene. The widest draw doesn’t exactly help matters but Commander Han has done well since troubling the judge on his reappearance at Musselburgh.

Punchestown Best Bet

Race 6: MAN OF PLENTY (23) (Each Way)
Trainer: Sophie Leech
Jockey: Jamie Moore

Making a swift reappearance after his disqualification here on Thursday, MAN OF PLENTY is capable of getting into the money again, having shown no ill effects from that experience. He came from a long way back to cross the line in third in the race won by Pearl Of The West but his rider weighed in light. This step up to two and a half miles should bring him into his comfort zone.
