Sedgefield Best Bets

Race 1: CALLIOPE (1)
Trainer: Dianne Sayer
Jockey: Conor O’Farrell

Formerly a useful Flat Turf horse for Andrew Balding, CALLIOPE is starting to get the hang of this entirely different discipline and the hooded top weight can make all. Her second to Sweet Vinetta at Catterick was a clear indication that she’s ready to deliver and this easy track will help her achieve it.

Race 7: DJIN CONTI (1)
Trainer: Harry Whittington
Jockey: Brian Hughes

A very interesting jockey booking for DJIN CONTI who scored a shade snugly at Southwell earlier in the week – no wonder connections are looking to strike while the iron’s hot and Brian Hughes can guide the six-year-old to a follow-up Triumph under a 7lb penalty.

Chepstow Best Value Bets

Race 4: TZAR DE L’ELFE (12) (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Rowe
Jockey: Andrew Glassonbury

Having promised to deliver on each of his last two starts TZAR DE L’ELFE can put his best foot forward before the ground becomes too quick. Clement conditions over the past 48 hours have dried things out, but the gelding should find the prevailing terrain acceptable and has a good chance of at least being in the money.

Race 5: COLONEL KEATING (4) (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Rowe
Jockey: Andrew Glassonbury

The same connections have a decent chance of a prizemoney return from the strapping COLONEL KEATING who is gradually finding his feet and can pay to follow now he’s going down the handicap route. Although beaten a long way behind Tarada over this distance last time he stayed on from an unpromising position and will be a tad wiser now.

Ludlow Best Bets

Race 4: YORKIST (2)
Trainer: Dan Skelton
Jockey: Harry Skelton

The Skeltons have done well with YORKIST since inheriting him in the late stage of his career, and I’m keen to take on the odds-on Ballywood with him. Ballywood takes a keen grip and should enjoy an easy time of things from the front, but the likely fast pace will also suit Yorkist who is a strong traveller who will be poised to pounce at the business end.

Race 6: BALLOTIN (2)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs
Jockey: Mr D Maxwell

After landing the odds in comfortable fashion at Leicester, BALLOTIN can take the enthusiastic David Maxwell a step closer to fulfilling his ambition of winning the amateur riders’ title. The redoubtable Maxwell puts a lot of investment into the game and his string of conveyances are not only capable but are proving that. Ballotin can fend off a strong challenge from Arthur’s Secret in what looks a strictly two-horse affair.

Cork Best Bets

Race 3: LA TEKTOR (3)
Trainer: Tony Martin
Jockey: Denis O’Regan

After a couple of sterling efforts in defeat, LA TEKTOR holds strong claims of making it third time lucky and he looks a more reliable proposition than School Boy Hours who has jumping issues. Importantly, he has finished off his races well and this big step up in trip appears to be just what the doctor ordered.

Race 7: ETINCELLE LIOTERIE (4)
Trainer: Joseph O’Brien
Jockey: Ms L O’Neill

Having improved to chase home Daylight Katie in a 19-runner field at Gowran Park, ETINCELLE LIOTERIE is streetwise enough to take this for top connections. Her form is better than market rival Eileen O’s and Lady McCabe could emerge as a bigger threat.
