Neil Morrice: UK Best Bets – Monday 21 December 2020

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Lindfield Park, Newcastle, And Musselburgh.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No11 SWEET BELIEVER (Nap)

Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

This looks a well contested novice, but unless there’s something decent amongst the newcomers SWEET BELIEVER is the one holding the cards. The Make Believe filly didn’t cut any ice on her debut at Headquarters but stepped up on that to finish second to Isola Rossa in a big field here last month. She should appreciate today’s longer trip.

Race 6 No1 BOOM THE GROOM

Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Veteran BOOM THE GROOM rolled back the years to deliver of course and distance last week, looking revitalised after a five month break. He grittily saw off Outrage and can provide a carbon copy performance from a good draw.

Race 7 No1 MASTER BURBIDGE (Each Way)

Trainer: Neil Mulholland – Jockey: Sean Bowen

The strong travelling MASTER BURBIDGE has form with a ring of consistency around it and can deservedly notch a first all-weather win in almost four years. He’s been in good form over jumps, scoring at Fakenham and placing at Southwell, and can swoop to conquer in the short home straight.

NEWCASTLE

Race 2 No3 DUTY OF CARE (Nap)

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

The Stoute stable has been amongst the winners with its small all-weather team and can strike again with DUTY OF CARE. The Kingman

colt attracted plenty of support on his Kempton debut, and although no match for the very impressive Papas Dream, probably ran into a smart foe of the like he’s unlikely to see in today’s field.

Race 7 No5 ST ANNE’S

Trainer: James Bethell – Jockey: Roman Scott

The lightly-raced ST ANNE’S responded to a first-time tongue tie to fail by the length of a well smoked cigarette against The Golden Cue here last month. The daughter of Mayson confirmed the promise shown on her third start at Redcar to indicate she will now be a winning force going down the handicap route.

MUSSELBURGH

Race 1 No1 ALRIGHT SUNSHINE (Nap)

Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Craig Nichol

Although he hasn’t run over jumps, the Flat form of ALRIGHT SUNSHINE makes him of considerable interest. A triple bumper winner who has scored four times on the level, he will outclass his foes if transferring his ability to this racing code.

Race 5 No4 OTTONIAN

Trainer: Donald McCain – Jockey: Brian Hughes

With just three outings over jumps that includes a couple of frame finishes, OTTONIAN looks the one with the greatest scope for improvement in this handicap hurdle. The gelded son of Dubawi is marginally preferred to Wakool and Barnay who are a couple to include in all exotics.

Race 7 No11 MISTI MANI

Trainer: Peter Niven – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

MISTI MANI has troubled the judge on both bumper starts. The Sulamani mare chased home a good yardstick in Miss Lamb at Wetherby and will be more forward with the benefit of the outing under her belt.
