Neil Morrice: UK Best Bets – Wednesday 10 March 2021

Neil Morrice Best Bets & Tips

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing coming your way from Fontwell Park, Catterick Bridge, Kempton Park and Lingfield Park.

FONTWELL PARK

Race 3 No 7 BADDESLEY PRINCE (Each Way)

Trainer: Chris Gordon – Jockey: Tom Cannon

It’s asking a lot of BADDESLEY PRINCE to deliver on his first outing for two years, but the gelding was on the improve when getting injured after falling on handicap debut at Newbury. He started a well supported second favourite for that competitive contest and will not be far off fully revved up for this return to racecourse duty.

Race 5 No 8 TRUCKERS PASS

Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Richard Johnson

Few novices have frustrated as much as TRUCKERS PASS, who since joining his trainer from Ireland has started a short favourite on each of his four outings, finishing second three times and fourth on a first outing of 2021 at Doncaster. He has the armoury to give short shrift to his foes at a time the Hobbs horses are finding a bit of form ahead of Cheltenham.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 1 No 8 FLANAGANS FIELD (Each Way)

Trainer: Bernard Llewellyn – Jockey: Robert Williams

FLANAGAN’S FIELD is defending a one race unbeaten record at this course and although his winning days are infrequent he needs to be taken seriously. He travels well through most of his races at this lowly level, and signalled with an earning run at Taunton last time that he’s close to being back on the boil.

Race 2 No 7 SASHENKA

Trainer: Michael Scudamore – Jockey: Tom Scudamore

If SASHENKA repeated her jumps debut second at Wincanton it would almost certainly be enough to get the job done, but the mare needs to be forgiven subsequent defeats at Catterick and Lingfield in order to earn the vote for this distaffers’ novices’ hurdle. From the plus side her stable is in good form.

Race 7 No 11 TOUTATIS (Nap)

Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

Beaten in a blanket finish on debut under Rules at Kempton, TOUTATIS can take advantage of the 7lb he receives from penalised Fruit N Nut in the nightcap. The gelded son of Katakontie looks certain to improve with the benefit of that experience under his belt, and can advertise the high opinion he’s held in by connections.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 3 No2 WESTERN SYMPHONY (Nap)

Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Ryan Moore

Bred to be suited by all-weather surfaces, WESTERN SYMPHONY impressed when opening his account at Newcastle and with Moore substituting for William Buick who is in Dubai, looks set to add to his laurels.

Race 5 No 6 ACCOMPLICE

Trainer, Michael Blanshard – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

The ultra consistent ACCOMPLICE is reunited with Doyle who last partnered the mare into the money on turf at Bath almost three years ago. Providing she gets a decent pace to aim at the seven-year-old can swoop to conquer in the short home straight.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No 5 MAHALE (Each Way)

Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

MAHALE has suffered from being badly drawn on a couple of recent visits to Lingfield. This time she appears to be in a perfect slot and can gain an overdue first success on this return to handicapping for a stable that’s done very well with its all-weather runners through the winter.

Race 3 No 1 FANGORN

Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

From the same yard, FANGORN is ready to endorse the promise of just two juvenile runs by following-up his back end Lingfield success under a penalty. The Bungle Inthejungle colt has trained well on the all-weather at home, and can show a clean pair of heels to Bobby On The Beat.

Race 4 No 5 DANCING KING (Nap)

Trainer: Mark Johnston – Jockey: Ben Curtis

DANCING KING did us a favour when bolting up at Wolverhampton and is impossible to oppose in spite of this being a slightly better race. He has a 6lb penalty but is racing over the same trip, and looked hugely impressive in delivering by a near double figure margin at the Dunstall Park course.
