Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing at Ayr, Beverley and Windsor.
Ayr Abbot Best Bets
Race 2: TADAANY (11) (Each Way)
Trainer: Ruth Carr
Jockey: Paul Hanagan
This is something of a minefield at first glance, but a closer inspection of TADAANY makes him the one to be on, in a handicap with four places. The seven-year-old has knocked on the door on a couple of occasions this year and with luck in running can get into the thick of things. He was ridden patiently at Hamilton last time, only giving best up the final hill. Beaten just two lengths into fourth, he now finds himself in a lower grade.
Beverley Best Bets
Race 5: SAISONS d’OR (6)
Trainer: Jedd O’Keeffe
Jockey: Jack Garrity
SAISONS d’OR has turned into an owners’ dream with two wins back in the spring and several frame finishes, latterly when returning from a break at Ripon where he only gave best in the last few strides. That should have put the cutting edge back on him and he can go all the way for his in-form stable.
Race 6: RELIGHT MY FIRE (4)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: D Redmond
Having been out in the wilderness for a while, RELIGHT MY FIRE served notice that he’s ready to get back into winning gear with a frame finish at Beverley last week. He will be suited by this slightly longer trip as well as the drop into a Class 6, while his chance will be enhanced should the market also speak in his favour.
Windsor Best Bets
Race 2: MILD ILLUSION (11)
Trainer: Jonathan Portman
Jockey: Rob Hornby
The debut run of MILD ILLUSION was tinged with greenness and the filly is open to any amount of improvement here. Having blown the start and been hampered in that Newbury contest, she met traffic approaching the final furlong but stayed on into a clear second to Special Secret. Several of her opponents have also earned, but she brings form from a Grade 1 track to the table.
