Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips – Monday 8 April 2019

Jockeys race horses

Neil Morrice brings you his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing from around the UK. Tips today come your way from Windsor, Redcar and Kelso.

Windsor Best Bets

Race 5: DIAMOND DOUGAL (3)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Charles Bishop

A precocious juvenile when he won around this time last year, DIAMOND DOUGAL has skipped one opportunity owing to unsuitable ground, and his chance will be greatly enhanced if there’s further rain. His work has been most encouraging.

Race 7: DANCING JO (9)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Scott McCullough

DANCING JO has served his connections proud through the winter and should have a fitness edge on some of his rivals. His task is eased by the 7lb claim of his excellent rider and he can have the edge on stablemate Jungle Juice.

Redcar Best Bets

Race 3: GIVE IT SOME TEDDY (7)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Duran Fentiman

The course specialist GIVE IT SOME TEDDY returns from a long lay off but can show he’s sufficiently well forward to make an impression in a deep all-aged handicap. He shows he knows where the winning line is when getting home by a short head over this course and distance last October, while his trainer has his horses quite well forward.

Race 6: ZORAWAR (1)
Trainer: David O’Meara
Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Switching to grass after several solid efforts on the all-weather, ZORAWAR can make his assured fitness tell. Most of his opponents haven’t been in the same consistent zone and the selection shows he can win by posting two Wolverhampton triumphs in February.

Kelso Best Bets

Race 1: ELVIS MAIL (1)
Trainer: Nick Alexander
Jockey: Lucy Alexander

This couldn’t have cut up much better for ELVIS MAIL whose only career victory came at Kelso. Subsequently, the hooded five-year-old has competed at a higher level, latterly finishing third in a race won by Rouge Vif that qualified as a Cheltenham trial. Even taking his penalty into consideration, he should have too much class for his foes.

Race 3: CHARLIE SNOW ANGEL (5)
Trainer: Miss S Forster
Jockey: Jamie Hamilton

This is a bigger field than those CHARLIE SNOW ANGEL has competed in on recent outings here and at Newcastle where on each occasion he had to play second fiddle. His form has gone up to a different level and the ten-year-old is sufficiently in the zone to take this.
