Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips – Sunday 7 July 2019

Jockeys ride horses

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Sunday’s racing at Market Rasen and Ayr.

Market Rasen Best Bets

Race 2: ONEOFTHESENIGHTS (1)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden
Jockey: Gavin Sheehan

In what looks a straight match, ONEOFTHESENIGHTS can preserve her unbeaten record by taking out the probable race favourite. The 6yo impressed on her debut in a soft ground point-to-point and created a favourable impression on her first start under Rules, jumping soundly to score at Ludlow. Her trainer does well with this type of individual.

Race 5: INDIAN TEMPLE (1)
Trainer: Tim Reed
Jockey: Harry Reed

Perth specialist INDIAN TEMPLE ended a frustration run when it mattered when landing its biggest race of the season last month with an ultra-game triumph from the front, fighting off one challenger after another. Although he’s edged up in the weights his confidence is on a high and this track, which he visits for the first time, has its similarities. Should he manage to attain the lead and jump as well as last time, he will be hard to pass.

Ayr Best Bets

Race 3: NEILETA (7)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Duran Fentiman

Giving connections a run for their money is something NEILETA does in spades and after a series of near misses he can deservedly get his head in front. He’s run well in all four handicaps he’s contested this year and especially when fitted with cheekpieces on his latest start at Hamilton, in which he finished well clear of the third. He’s well drawn to get a handy position and despite nudging up the weights without winning looks worth another chance from a mark just 2lb higher.

Race 6: SMUGGLERS CREEK (5)
Trainer: Iain Jardine
Jockey: Jamie Gormley

SMUGGLERS CREEK is worth forgiving a heavy defeat at Carlisle and backing to bounce back under different conditions here. When opening his account for the season at that course on his previous outing he blazed away from the front, tactics which took more out of him in a stronger field and over a longer trip on that latest start. Now he races left handed from a plum draw for a front runner at a venue where he’s won in the past, and is back to his optimum trip.
