Chepstow Best Bets

Race 1: BOSTIN (8)
Trainer: D O’Brien
Jockey: Thomas Garner

While he is in the veteran stage and makes only occasional visits to the track these days, BOSTIN showed clear signs of a revival to trouble the judge off a patient ride at Plumpton last month on just his second run of the season. That should have put the gelding cherry ripe for a big run here.

Race 3: KHAGE (2)
Trainer: Harry Whittington
Jockey: Daryl Jacob

Only just lost out at Ffos Las last time but this looks a more straightforward opportunity for KHAGE who sparkled in his winding-up gallop for this. A galloping track suits the gelding and granted a positive ride from on the pace he will be tough to peg back.

Haydock Park Best Bets

Race 1: CAPTAIN MOIRETTE (2)
Trainer: Sue Smith
Jockey: Danny Cook

Showing a willing attitude, CAPTAIN MOIRETTE had to dig deep to gain the day over this trip at Catterick on much better ground than he will experience here. However, his action suggests testing conditions should not be a problem and with his stable in good form, he can follow up.

Race 4: ECEPARTI (3)
Trainer: Venetia Williams
Jockey: Charlie Deutsch

Williams has her horses pinging and a large contingent from her Ross-On-Wye yard love to get their feet into the ground. ECEPARTI did everything right in a similar contest at Stratford only to be reeled-in by Dino Velvet but there was no disgrace in that and if the gelding goes on this much deeper going he will be hard to stop.

Market Rasen Best Bets

Race 1: MR SCRUMPY (6)
Trainer: Jed O’Keeffe
Jockey: Joe Colliver

MR SCRUMPY is certainly better than he showed when third at Carlisle where he ran a strange race, losing a prominent position before running on again. A lightly raced individual who is already a winner, there should be enough improvement in him to repel Peppay Le Pugh on that one’s return to hurdling.

Race 2: DEW POND (7)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: Mr W Easterby

Attracting strong support at Wetherby last time, DEW POND looked all over the winner when launching a challenge and veering left at the final flight, but was collared on the run-in. With a couple of front runners in this field, he should get the fast pace to aim at and swoop to conquer at the business end. He is certainly overdue.
