Race 5

A 3yr old filly and a 5yr old mare could fight out the finish to this race and secure the exacta, but PARTY LADY gets the nod to lead them home. She showed solid improvement to win her maiden race last time out over 1100M by just under a length. She is a speedy sort who held off all the late challengers that day and although taking on stronger here, she could well be up to the task at hand, jumping from her handy draw three.

A FORTUNATE LASS had her consistency rewarded with a 0.7L victory last time out over 1250M. She finished well that day and from gate six, she could prove to be the biggest threat to the top choice.

BOOM BOOM BASIL missed out on his hat-trick when finishing eighth in his latest outing over six furlongs, 3.3L back from the winner, but he had nothing go his way that day, having been slow away and then being crowded shortly after the start and then over racing in the early stages. In addition, he was bumped at the 200M mark. He faces a wide gate thirteen, but with better luck in running today, he could trouble the top two selections.

Race 6

FOREVER NEWYORK had consistent form before being a tad disappointing last time out when finishing ninth over six furlongs, just over six lengths adrift of the winner, but he was caught three-wide in running that day and then shifted about in the straight from the 200M mark, so that effort is best ignored. He has cracked pole position and will be hoping to bounce back to his previous form today.

KOOKABAA has finished in fourth place in his last two runs and stayed on well when 2.4L back from the winner last time out over 1100M, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. He is drawn in gate four and will have 4kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

PATRICK MAY followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second spot finish next time out over 1300M, just a head back from the winner. The gelding tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only collared in the shadow of the post. He faces a wide draw eleven, but he should use his early gate speed to shift across without expending too much energy.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, AMY’S SHADOW is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she came the widest into the home straight last time out before finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner. She attracted plenty of betting support that day and did battle all the way down to the wire. She gets gate six and will be looking to make amends here.

PECUNIARY INTEREST did not get the clearest of passages in his last outing over seven furlongs, finishing 2.2L back from the winner, but the form of that race has been franked and despite having to face draw eleven, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

TOULON BROOK had to be held up between the 300M and 100M mark before finishing strongly to be ninth last time out over 1300M, just over three lengths adrift of the victor. He was returning from a 24-week break that day and should be involved in the finish here.

Race 8

DELIVERED has posted two solid last runs, the latest when third over 1300M, just under two lengths behind the winner. He was making good late progress in that outing and from draw seven, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

SLY SONG is a 6yr old mare taking on males, but she won her penultimate start over seven furlongs and then finished second next time out when dropping down to 1300m, just under a length behind the winner. She had to weave her way through traffic that day, before hitting the front at the 200M pole, only to be run out of it very late. She has a wide gate fifteen to deal with, but is likely to be dropped out of it early and then start picking off the frontrunners in the dash down to the winning post.

KIRKTON stayed on well to win his maiden race last time out over 1207M by 0.8L and the form of that contest has been franked. He faces stronger here, but has drawn gate five and may well prove good enough to record a quick double. He should be included in all bets.
