APPLE’S JADE flopped in the Champion Hurdle to confirm that she’s not at home on an. Undulating course, but punters will support her to bring her A-game to the table on this level playing field as she takes a hike up the distance ladder. Gordon Elliott’s mare had reigned supreme in Ireland before that reverse, and when on song is very hard to beat.
ROKSANA will not mind the cut in the ground as it was soft when she landed the at the Festival, despite flashing her tail and hanging right across the track in the closing stages. The adventurous ploy of trainer Dan Skelton to pitch her into this is not a surprise but she will have to improve if she’s to win.
IF THE CAP FITS comes into this off a carefully managed campaign which has shown him to be a consistent operator, though he got going all too late to catch Vision Des Flos in the ‘National Spirit’ Trophy at Fontwell.
SAM SPINNER sets the standard following his return to form in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival, and is the one to beat. Jedd O’Keeffe’s front runner had failed to complete on two of his three previous outings and started a 33-1 no hoper at Cheltenham, but ultimately he was the only one to make a race of it with the impressive Paisley Park, who would have been an odds on shot if going for this.
WHOLESTONE finished a creditable fifth in the Stayers’ and appeals most of those in double figure price bracket. He could reward Each Way support.
