Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: SEA URCHIN(5)
Jockey: Jupp K – Trainer: Puller G B

SEA URCHIN found plenty of longshot support when he produced an eye-catching run over this trip on the polytrack in August. He was slow into stride and all at sea but ran on nicely in the closing stages to be 2nd best. He didn’t have much quality behind him that day but would have come on appreciably from the experience and could certainly prefer racing on the grass today. His stable is in good form and the four-year old gelding should make natural improvement.

Race 4: GRAND JURY(10)
Jockey: Delpech A – Trainer: De Kock M F

GRAND JURY was unfancied on her debut on the polytrack recently but she made some late progress to finish just out of the money, despite being slow into stride and racing green. That experience would have brought her on and she should relish this extra furlong. The stable jockey climbs aboard the daughter of Ideal World who tries the grass now.

Race 5: BARBOSA(1)
Jockey: Cormack S – Trainer: Drier D R

The classy six-year old BARBOSA is in great form but he had to work extremely hard for his last win on the polytrack. Nevertheless, his determination and sheer class were apparent and the 3rd placed runner boosted that form with a subsequent victory. The Drier inmate is best in on official ratings in this pinnacle stakes event and he should prefer the switch to the grass. He will take a power of beating.

Race 7: RIKITIKITANA(7)

Jockey: Delpech A – Trainer: Tarry S G

RIKITIKITANA was expected to thrash his maiden rivals over a mile in his last start and the Tarry charge didn’t disappoint as he displayed his swift turn of foot. He has already proven his worth against winners and has huge scope for further progress. He will handle today’s rise in class and the stronger pace over the seven furlongs should play right into his hands. Interestingly, the Toreador colt is his stable’s sole representative on this card.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: QUEEN’S ADVANCE(7)
Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Bosch D S

There are some really smart fillies on display in this competitive handicap and the likely strong pace will ensure a cracking outcome. QUEEN’S ADVANCE was undone by the false pace in her decent last c & d effort but had shown her quality prior to that. This is probably her toughest test to date but she has a good track record and that fast gallop will certainly bring out the best in the daughter of Right Approach. She could still be ahead of the handicapper’s assessment.
