Winning Form Best Bets
Race 2: RAINIER(2)
Race 3: LADY JADE(1)
Race 4: HOUSECARL(4)
Race 6: MASSACHUSETTS(8)
Race 1: FLY PEG FLY(2)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH – Trainer: Paul GADSBY
FLY PEG FLY has improved with racing and she caught the eye with a strong late effort for third over this c & d behind some decent sorts, last time out. The daughter of Jay Peg has been rested 20 weeks since but would have strengthened during that time and has plenty of scope for further improvement. Her conditioner knows how to bring them back well and she should be competitive in this opening contest.
Race 2: MUMSY’S JET(12) – TOP BET
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT
MUMSY’S JET drifted in the betting market but still put up a highly promising debut effort over this c & d in September. The well-related son of Western Winter produced a powerful finish and only failed by a short head to reel in Lindaba over this c & d, that day. He has been given a three month break since and would have come on smartly with that experience under his belt. Delpech retains the ride which is always encouraging and the Kom Naidoo inmate should give a very good account of himself.
Race 3: LADY JADE(1)
Jockey: Kevin SHEA – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT
LADY JADE is ultra-consistent and is versatile up to seven furlongs. She was desperately unlucky not to have won her last start over six furlongs at Greyville but she could make amends here. The daughter of Lion Tamer is often slightly slow into stride which is always concerning but she is ideally c & d suited and is the one to beat. Kevin Shea takes the ride.
Race 5: JOSHUAS CROWN(3)
Jockey: Alec FORBES – Trainer: Alistair GORDON
JOSHUA’S CROWN has been taking on much stronger for quite some time now and has kept his form well. He put up two good showings after returning from a 14 week break and will be cherry-ripe today. He was given a two pound penalty for his good 4th in a feature last time but races on his hometrack and drops heavily in class. He should be very competitive in this field.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 6: INFINITE WISDOM(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT
This is another nightmare fillies and mares handicap and once again extreme caution is advised. INFINITE WISDOM isn’t a confident selection but she has won on this course and she did improve when third against stronger last time out. She drops in class with Anton Marcus up and should be competitive from a handy draw.
