Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ROYAL KATE(12) – TOP BET
Jockey: MJ ODENDAAL – Trainer: Wendy WHITEHEAD

ROYAL KATE has always been held in high regard by her conditioner and she showed exactly why with her career best effort last time out. The speedy daughter of Rebel King flashed her speed and fought on well when beaten a neck into second behind a heavily supported De Kock newcomer over this c & d, last time out. She finished over two lengths clear of the third placed runner and would have come on further from that outing. She is favourably drawn at barrier 2 and could take some beating here.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

GOGETTHESHERIFF is highly rated by his yard but he has thus far been disappointing over sprints. However, the well-related son of Go Deputy races over a mile today and could make considerable improvement. He is drawn in midfield and the betting market will be a good guide.

Jockey: MJ ODENDAAL – Trainer: Colin SCOTT

CHARLES GREIG has benefitted from the 18 week break and he ran on nicely for second over this trip on the standside course, ten days ago. He had DRUM SCORE a further 1.35 lengths behind him on that occasion but meets the latter on 4kgs better terms and is suited to this inside course. He is drawn in pole this time around and can go one better, despite taking a slight rise in class.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

EMINENCE DAY has rather surprisingly been sold despite showing plenty of promise in his four starts to date. Anyway, the son of Sunray Spirit makes his debut for his new owner and trainer today. He won his maiden easily over ten furlongs at just the third time of asking and then produced a decent next start. He only found his best stride late and ran on nicely for second over this c & d, despite conceding chunks of weight to his conqueror. That run does suggest that he is searching for further but he is handily drawn this time around and may have too much class for this field.

Race 2: CAPTAIN’S CRONICHLE(2) (Each Way)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

CAPTAIN’S CHRONICLE and THREE WISHES both made their debuts in the contest behind Sole Mio over this c & d in open company, three weeks ago. The former raced in touch before lacking extra late and was beaten just under five lengths whilst the latter overcame a slow start and stayed on for second, beaten three lengths at the wire. The betting market suggested that the latter was prepared for that event and would have come on nicely with that experience. However, the former had to overcome an unfavourable draw on that occasion and could be an entirely different proposition today. His trainer clearly didn’t have him tuned-up for that contest and there should be lots more to come from the son of Captain Al. He is selected to reverse the form.
