RACE 1
DESTINE JEWELLERY
returns from a one-month layoff. He shoulders top weight but a repeat of his
penultimate run would make him tough to peg back in the opening contest. ALL BEST FRIENDS is a four-time winner
and doesn’t take on the strongest Class 5 field. He wasn’t disgraced last time
and if putting his best foot forward, then he can pose a threat to the top
selection. MONEYMORE is drawn best
of all. He will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice and can run into the
money.
RACE 2
BELLA BABY
shoulders a handy galloping weight and brings consistent form into this race.
He followed up his recent win well, looks fairly handicapped and will be
looking to get back to winning ways. UNITED
WE STAND likes to race up with the pace and his form is attractive barring
his penultimate effort. The South African-bred FIGURES TWO placed in a recent trial. He is an unexposed sort and
could be anything.
RACE 3
SEA OF LIFE is in
search of a hat-trick of victories. He steps up in to Class 2 for the first
time but the manner in which he has won his last two races suggests he may be
up to the task at hand. THE ROCK
only finished half a length behind the winner last time. He is a decent sort
and will be looking to make amends. CIRCUIT
THREE backed up his favourite last time out. He was given a peach of a ride
by Moreira last time and it is encouraging that he has retained the mount.
RACE 4
SUPER RED DRAGON
is drawn wide but he is a type that should get across without using up too much
energy. He was beaten by a couple of lengths last time out but looks well
placed in this contest and should be right there at the business end of
affairs. VOYAGE STAR showed signs of
a form return last time out. He shoulders bottom weight in this contest and
must be respected. PEGASUS GLORY
carries top weight but drops in class and with Purton in the saddle, he can run
into the money.
RACE 5
PROUD SKY is
coming along the right way. He returns from a five-week break, shoulders a
handy galloping weight and will be picking off the frontrunners in the dash to
the wire. TREASURE CHEST is a
consistent sort. He likes to race up with the pace and on his day can be
difficult to peg back in the latter stages. JADE THEATRE has shown notable improvement since racing on the dirt
course. He shoulders top weight but can run into the money once again.
RACE 6
The South African-bred UNITE
SPIRIT is the best bet on the card. He finished just under a length behind
the winner last time and now gets the services of Moreira. His last run was on
Boxing Day and if returning fit, then he will take a power of beating. SO AWESOME finished 3L behind LADY FIRST last time out. He is 3kgs
better off at the weights and there shouldn’t be too much between the pair when
they hit the line.
RACE 7
PING HAI TREASURE
was clear second best last time out when finishing four and a half lengths
behind HONGKONG GREAT. He is 4.5kgs
better off at the weights which may be enough to turn the tables and he
definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. PARTY EVERYDAY performs well for Teetan and brings ultra-consistent form
into the race. He should give another good account of himself.
RACE 8
PRINCE OF GEMS
produced a fair comeback effort after a two-month layoff. He will strip fitter
and is the narrow first selection in a wide-open contest. JOYFUL FORTUNE is much better than his last outing suggests. He has
won a barrier trial since and it will be no surprise to see him return to
winning ways. MR LUMIERES is a
three-time c&d winner. He will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice and
can run into the money.
RACE 9
GOLFMAN STAR
followed up his recent win well when only beaten 0.6L at the wire. He makes his
course debut and if suited to the track configuration, then he will take a
power of beating. WAR WEAPON is unbeaten/unexposed sort from
Australia. The booking of Moreira to ride is significant and he could make his
presence felt in Hong Kong. HARMONY AND
BLESSED won his first two starts and then ran a fair fourth-place. He may
still be slightly ahead of the handicapper and will benefit from a 3kgs
claiming apprentice.
RACE 10
MY SUGAR and THE HULK were only separated by 0.45
lengths last time out. The pair meet on the same weight terms and are set to
fight out the finish of the lucky last. ROMANTIC
COMBO finished behind the top two selections last time and may have to
settle for a minor place once again.
