MISTER MONTE produced a fair last effort on the All-weather despite receiving a bump at the start. He looks fairly handicapped and should make his presence felt in this opening contest. JIMMU has placed in his last two outings under Moreira and from his neat draw, merits healthy respect.
07.30 Race 2 Class 4 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 7/8/9
LUMEN BABA made up some good ground on the All-weather last time. His prior form is unattractive but a repeat of that effort should see him finish in the money. STEEL WIN was a narrow winner in his last start. He has cracked a neat draw and it is encouraging that Moreira has kept faith in the ride.
08.00 Race 3 Class 4 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 4/9/8
INFINITE POWER arguably went too hard in front last time. He won his penultimate start from gun to tape and if repeating that effort, will be hard to peg back. JADE THEATRE finished well in his last start before the season-break despite racing three-wide and he should be one of the leading contenders.
08.30 Race 4 Class 5 Handicap 1400m
Selections: 12/2/10
EVEN KEEL should have finished closer to the winner in his last start as he was cramped for galloping room at the 200m. He is drawn best of all and definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. SEIZE THE SPIRIT is another that was a tad unlucky in his last start. He was cramped for room at the 250m and finished his race off positively.
09.00 Race 5 Class 4 Handicap 1400m
Selections: 4/5/3
XIANG YIN over-raced in his last outing and was baulked for a run between the 400-300m. He gets Teetan in the saddle and if there is a decent pace in the race, should be doing his best work late. THE ANOMALY bounced back to his best in his last start before the break. He would have strengthened up during the break and if building on that recent effort, can run into the money.
09.35 Race 6 Class 3 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 4/6/7
SPEEDY MOUSE dictated terms well last time when outrun in the latter stages. He may adopt similar tactics, is still on the upgrade and if utilizing his early gate speed, will be hard to peg back. HARMONY SPIRIT probably should have finished closer last time as he received a bump at the 300m and became unbalanced. He reunites with Chau and should be right there where it matters most.
10.05 Race 7 Class 4 Handicap 1400m
Selections: 7/8/6
LAND POWER was a tad unlucky last time as his jockey dropped the crop at the 100m. He was only just caught in the shadow of the post on that occasion and will be looking to make amends. JOYFUL HEART was making up good ground last time despite racing three-wide. He has performed well in the past for Teetan and the pair merit healthy respect.
10.35 Race 8 Class 3 Handicap 1200m
Selections: 2/9/8
IMA SINGLE MAN was clear second best in his last start before the season-break. He jumps from the same barrier position and Teetan may be able to coax extra out of him where it matters most. GLUCK RACER won in impressive fashion last time out. He moved up at the 150m on that occasion and found no rivals. Schofield retains the ride and the pair can make it back-to-back wins.
11.10 Race 9 Class 2 Handicap 1000m
Selections: 10/7/9
WINNER METHOD is the best bet on the card. He is a speedy sort that has lived up to Trainer Shum’s expectations thus far. He shoulders a handy galloping weight and looks set to get back to winning ways. TRILLION WIN is better than his below par last effort. He is likely to settle just off the pace and if reproducing his prior form, will be staying on strongly at the business end.
11.45 Race 10 Class 3 Handicap 1400m
Selections: 3/6/5
THE GOLDEN SCENERY got going too late when narrowly beaten at the second time of asking. He is still relatively unexposed, has scope for improvement and there is plenty more to come from this individual throughout the season. SUPER TEN followed up back-to back wins with a fair effort when finishing in minor money. He is drawn pole and the talented Chau will be looking to end off on a high note in the lucky last.
