Racing this Sunday sees an action-packed card at Sha Tin Racecourse which includes the running of ten competitive Handicaps and the return of Winner Method. The best bet, value bet and bi-pot must be followed closely.

VALUE BET – SAVAQUIN ridden by A. Hamelin

BEST BET – WINNER METHOD ridden by Z. Purton

Bi-pot: 4, 10/1 ,5, 13/3, 8/1, 10/1, 7/2, 4.

Race 1 – Time: 06:45      Class 5 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 2/12/11

UNIVERSAL CROWN is drawn best of all. He was just pipped by a neck in his penultimate run on this course and a repeat of that effort could see him winning the first race on the card. He will benefit from a 2.5kgs apprentice claim and should make his presence felt. FOR FUN’S SAKE was just pipped by a nose in his last start at Happy Valley and if confirming that effort, he can pose a threat to the top selection.

Race 2 – Time: 07:15      Class 4 Handicap – 1000m

Selections: 1/4/13

CORRIENTHES shoulders joint top weight and is difficult to oppose on form. He has finished runner-up in his last two outings and doesn’t meet a very competitive field. The form of his penultimate run catches the eye when he was narrowly beaten on this track. SEVEN HEAVENS should relish racing back on turf and the booking of Moreira to ride merits healthy respect. SPARKLING DOLPHIN’S last win came over this C&D. He is in a good space and can enter the frame with only 53.5kgs to shoulder.

Race 3 – Time: 07:45      Class 3 Handicap – 1000m

Selections: 2/3/5

BRILLIANT FORTUNE arguably has the most scope for improvement in this field. The form of his penultimate run catches the eye as he was only beaten 1.3 lengths by the talented Winner Method – who takes part later in Race 8. METRO WARRIOR was no match for Killer Bee last time but he looks fairly handicapped once again and should make his presence felt. JOYFUL FORTUNE returns from a three-month layoff and if fit can run into the money.

Race 4 – Time: 08:15      Class 5 Handicap – 1650m

Selections: 3/1/9

REGENCY GEM ran on from far back last time out to win going away. It is encouraging that Teetan has kept faith in the ride and the pair look set to make it quick back-to-back wins. DRAGON COMMANDER followed up his most recent win with two runner-up berths. He shoulders top weight and from his inside draw, can challenge the top selection. SHINEALOT was clear second-best in his comeback run at Happy Valley. He will strip a much fitter horse and can run into the money.

Race 5 – Time: 09:05      Class 4 Handicap  – 1400m

Selections: 10/4/2

GALAXY EMPEROR followed up his most recent win with a decent performance when beaten by only a length at the wire. He has cracked pole position, shoulders a handy galloping weight and can get back to winning ways. PACKING AWARD stayed on well last time on this track. He still has plenty scope for improvement and if overcoming his wide draw, should be one of the leading contenders. ZONE D has been a model of consistency on this track. He has placed in his last four outings and should be right there at the business end.

Race 6 – Time: 09:40      Class 4 Handicap – 1650m

Selections: 13/1/5

FAIRY FLOSS backed up his favourite status last time. He won with plenty in hand that day and although he takes on stronger, he should be up to the task at hand. DOUBLE TAKE brings consistent form into this race. He was pipped by a neck in his last start and will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice. V CHEVALIERS is a solid galloper that made good ground in his last start. He has his first run on the All-Weather and if suited to the surface, can run into the money.

Race 7 – Time: 10:10      Class 4 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 8/3/10

SO AWESOME is still in search of his first career win and is the narrow first selection. He finished well in his last start and hasn’t finished too far off the winner in prior outings. He jumps from an inside barrier and could be one to cause an upset. VICTORY SCHOLARS finished runner-up behind Drops Of God who takes part later on and could be absolutely anything. He has shown potential in all three of his career starts and from his inside draw, should give another good account of himself.

Race 8 – Time: 10:40      Class 3 Handicap – 1200m

Selections: 1/10/11

WINNER METHOD is the best bet on the card. He failed to keep his unbeaten record intact last time when beaten a length by the impressive Carroll Street. He shoulders top weight and if not green on the bend, should take a power of beating. DROPS OF GOD was an impressive debut winner. Watch form line of Race 7 number 3 – Victory Scholars.

Race 9 – Time: 11:15      Class 3 Handicap – 1400m

Selections: 1/7/13

THE HULK is in search of a hat-trick of wins. He remains in Class 3 and will benefit from a 3kgs claiming apprentice. KASI FARASI is better than his moderate last start. He is well-drawn and has strong claims on his 05.04.2021 effort. LEAP OF FAITH showed signs of a form return in latest. Both of his career victories have come on this course and he is definitely capable of finding a form return.

Race 10 – Time: 11:50    Class 2 Handicap – 1600m

Selections: 2/4/1

SAVAQUIN was only beaten just under a length in his last start at Happy Valley. He has a decent record over a mile and with French ace, Hamelin in the saddle definitely represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. THE ROCK was no match for the winner on the All-Weather last time. He has won twice on this course, should relish being back on turf and can throw out a challenge to the top selection. TOURBILLON DIAMOND finished a neck behind the top choice in his last start. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and can turn the tables on his most recent conqueror.
