Gauteng based racehorse trainer LOUIS GOOSEN (53) was born into a racing family, as his dad was both a successful jockey and then trainer in Port Elizabeth. At the tender age of 9, Louis decided that he wanted to follow his dad, into the training ranks but went through the usual school and then tertiary qualifications. He served his apprenticeship in the game under two astute horsemen, in Chris Erasmus and the late Buddy Maroun, before taking out his trainer’s licence just over two decades ago with just 3 horses. He left the game briefly to establish his successful CCTV business, which has created the financial platform to allow him to return to the ‘sport of kings’. Goosen is now based at the Vaal racecourse with his 37 horses and attributes his recent excellent results to his wonderful hardworking team of 25 staff. During his post-race interviews, Louis displays his excellent marketing skills and it is highly recommended that any potential/existing owner’s join this thoroughly professional outfit. He has earmarked all of Trip Tease, Negev, Moggytwoshoes and Celine from his stable as horses to follow during the season. The yard saddles the sprinter SOCIETI in this Saturday’s Sandy Beach Stakes on the Vaal sand and Louis gives the filly a decent place chance. WINNING FORM, SPORTING POST and HOLLYWOODBETS.NET wishes Louis and his excellent team all the success in their future endeavours.
