Race 5

BERRUTI has consistent formlines to his credit and overraced early, but then stayed on well to finish fourth last time out over seven furlongs, beaten just a head. He has drawn gate six and has his peak run here after returning from an 18-week break. He seems likely to turn in another honest performance today.

LADY PATRICIA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her last start over 1250m by 2.3L when kicking clear of the field at the 200M mark and seeing off all the late challengers. She faces a wide draw thirteen out of sixteen, but she likes to race up with the speed and should be able to move across without using up too much energy.

FICSMM DAVE on the other hand has cracked pole position and finished fourth in his last outing over 1280M, just one length back from the victor when returning from a 24-week rest. He was hanging out over the closing stages that day, so should have finished closer to the winner than he eventually did and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

CROSS STEP is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has only had the two runs to date and showed the expected improvement to win by a length over five furlongs at the second time of asking. She came four-wide into the home straight that day before finishing strongly and on that showing, she should relish the extra ground that is on offer here. Her draw three will do her no harm and she should give the boys a good run for their money.

KAUFUSI went from jump to wire to win his last start over five furlongs by a neck. That was his maiden victory, but he fought off all the late challengers well over the latter stages and whilst taking on stronger here, he may well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

FORBIDDEN PALACE showed marked improvement when ending up in second spot last time out over 1280M, just over a half-length behind the winner. The gelding was making good late progress that day and the form of that race has been franked. He will have to overcome draw ten, but he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 7

A ROOM SOMEWHERE is a 5yr old mare taking on boys, but she has finished second in her last two runs, the latest over six furlongs, 0.7L behind the winner. She has pulled gate seven and will have her peak outing here after returning from a lengthy 32-week break. She will be hoping to go one better today.

KAUFUSI had his consistency rewarded to win his maiden race last time out over five furlongs by a neck when returning from a shorter 24-week rest. He is a speedy sort who is sure to put his draw two to good use.

LEVI’S STORM also won his maiden contest last time out, but in his case over six furlongs where he put no less than six lengths between himself and the trailing pack. He has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial and although having to overcome a wide gate fourteen, be should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 8

Today’s best bet, CASINO LORD, has had five runs to date, recording two firsts, one second and one third-place finish, with his only unplaced finish being on debut. He raced four-wide approaching the home turn before finishing strongly to end up third last time out over 1100M, just failing by a short-head to reel in the first two runners, but the form of the race has been franked, so that effort was encouraging. He jumps from a handy draw three and could prove difficult to topple today.

SPLASHER is seldom far off the action and finished fourth in his latest outing over 1007M, one and a half lengths back from the winner. He was making good late progress in that outing and from his pole position, he could be the biggest threat to the top pick.

BIG SURPRISE won his penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished fifth in his next start over six furlongs, three and a half lengths behind the victor and was immediately rested for 18 weeks. The form of that race has however stood up well with four runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He returns here after having had the one barrier trial and gets gate six. He should be involved in the finish.
