Trainer Comments – Vodacom Durban July 2017

Winning Form spoke to the trainers of the 2017 Vodacom Durban July runners to get comments on their runners come Saturday the 1st July at Greyville.

Sean Tarry - South African Horse Racing Trainer

Sean Tarry

FRENCH NAVY – He is doing very well and I was very pleased with his gallop last Thursday.  His last run, when wearing blinkers, must be ignored as the blinkers did not suit him. He is very game and always tries his best and I am very happy with him.

AL SAHEM – Is doing very well. I am not over excited about his 1 draw as lots can go wrong from there but it is what it is and we will take it from there. Due to racing commitments Anthony Delpech will not be riding him but S’manga is getting to know him and I am sure he will get the best from him. He is a well-weighted three-year old and I have high hopes for him.

TILBURY FORT – I am taking my chances with him and I am just hoping for the best.

SAFE HARBOUR – I think she is a big runner and she is working very well. Everything has gone right for her in her prep and I am very hopeful of her chance.

Brett Crawford

EDICT OF NANTES – Is fit and well and I am not worried about the draw.

NEBULA  (reserve runner) – If he runs he will appreciate the low mass he is carrying.

MARINARESCO – Is doing very well and he is as well as can be. Unfortunately, he carries a big weight for a small horse but he does have a good draw which means that jockey Fayd’Herbe will be able to give him a chance early on. He is a horse who MUST be given a chance early on and then he will be able to use his powerful finish to good advantage. I am sure he will be thereabouts at the finish.

NIGHTINGALE – Is doing really well and I was very pleased with her good recent second behind Just Sensual. She raced wide from a bad draw but then finished really well that day. I think she may be carrying a kilo or two too much but she is doing really well this season. I think that in a true run race she will be thereabouts.

HORIZON – Is on the up and I was very pleased with his run in the Daily News. Unfortunately, he has a really bad draw but in his favour is that he is nicely weighted. I rate him as one of the better 3 year olds which puts him into the race with a chance.

SARATOGA DANCER – Is really fit and well in himself and has a much better draw than last year when he ran a really good race. I am expecting him to run well again.

TEN GUN SALUTE –  I thought he had a very good gallop last Thursday. He has come on since winning at Greyville and he too, is well drawn. I am expecting a big run from him.

KRAMBAMBULI – Has a wide draw to contend with. A rough race would suit him and if the race is rough he can run a place.

IT’S MY TURN – Is coming along very nicely at just the right time. He has the advantage of having Piere Strydom in the saddle and I make him one of the horses to beat.

BLACK ARTHUR – Is doing very well and has everything going for him. I make him the best of the older horses but he has the three year olds to beat who are absolutely ‘slung‘ into the race. They have never had such small weights to carry.

MASTER SABINA – Is doing fine. He has proved that he gets the trip and he has a nice weight to carry. He is a definite runner in the race.

Dean Kannemeyer - Horse Racing Trainer - South Africa

MR WINSOME – Has had a very good prep and he has proved his worth by winning the Track & Ball Derby and running a big race in the Greyville 1900m.I couldn’t ask much more of him.

Geoff Woodruff - Horse Racing Trainer - South Africa

PAGODA – Is doing well and he is very fit. Without being over confident we are willing to take our chance.

Joey Ramsden - Horse Racing Trainer - South Africa

THE CONGLOMERATE – I have got him as well as I had him last year and he is working and looking very well. I am very pleased with him.

Johan Janse van Vuuren

BRAZUCA – Trainer Johan Janse van Vuuren said he was sick in bed and was unable to provide us with a comment on his runner.
