Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: FLASHY APACHE (3)
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Zackey T

FLASHY APACHE showed very good improvement when finishing third in his last start over 1400m on the Standside course. He should have finished closer that day as he hung in the final 200m. The son of The Apache is a progressive type and if keeping on a straight line, he should be the one to beat.

Race 4: INDLAMU (2)
Jockey: Hewitson L – Trainer: Tarry S G

INDLAMU was not disgraced when finishing third behind stable companion, Paisley Park in the Listed Secretariat Stakes last time. He set the pace that day, but was caught in the latter stages. The son of Pomodoro returns from a 17-week break which may have done him the world of good. Lyle Hewitson steps back into the saddle and he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

Race 5: SOUND OF SUMMER (2)
Jockey: Kennedy W – Trainer: Peter P

SOUND OF SUMMER was an impressive winner on debut over 1400m on the Standside course. He lost a length at the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Silvano will enjoy the rise to the mile and could be anything. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can remain unbeaten.

TOP BET FOR TODAY
Race 8: SERGEI (1)
Jockey: Kennedy W – Trainer: Peter P

SERGEI raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of Techno Savvy. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He does not meet the strongest field this afternoon and can shed his maiden tag from pole position.

VALUE BET
Race 7: POPPYCOCK (11)
Jockey: Mxoli P – Trainer: Zackey T

POPPYCOCK finished 3.95 lengths behind ROMEO’S MAGIC last time. He is 6.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He is having his second run after a rest and should strip fitter. With a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to cause the upset.r horse. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse which should help his chances.
