HOPE IS POWER was an impressive winner on debut over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. Despite hanging from the 200m mark, he won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. The son of Soft Falling Rain looks to have some class about him and should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ELIUD was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages of the Grade 2 Gauteng Guineas. His form prior to that outing was decent. The son of Futura is the best weighted runner in this contest and if switching off early, he should be the one to beat. It is encouraging that Warren Kennedy steps back into the saddle.
