Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DUNYAA (7)

Jockey: Murray C  Trainer: De Kock M

DUNYAA showed good improvement in her last start over the minimum distance at the Vaal. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Brazen Beau looks to be progressive and may be the one to side with here.

Race 4: NARTJIE (5)

Jockey: Murray C  Trainer: De Kock M

NARTJIE was ultra-impressive when winning his maiden over a mile on this course last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests he will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. The son of Vercingetorix makes his Handicap debut, but he looks to have ability and may be up to the task at hand.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 7: QUEEN SUPREME (3)

Jockey: Murray C  Trainer: De Kock M

QUEEN SUPREME found one too good in the form of War Of Athena in the Ipi Tombe Challenge last time. The 5yo mare has won twice, finished second twice and third twice from seven starts on this course. She is the best-weighted runner in this contest and should take a power of beating.

Race 9: CHIEF OF STATE (3)

Jockey: Yeni M  Trainer: Matchett P

CHIEF OF STATE ran a fair race over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. His last victory came in Handicap company and with Warren Kennedy in the saddle, he should get back to winning ways.

VALUE BET

Race 8: VAR AGLOW (5)
Jockey: V.Rensburg M – Trainer: Dawson C

VAR AGLOW was a tad disappointing in his last start over the minimum trip at the Vaal. He raced from just off the pace that day and didn’t go on with his effort. The run that catches the eye is when finishing 1.1 lengths behind PHINDA MZALA, three runs ago. He is 9.5kgs better off at the weights today and if repeating that effort, he should be the one to beat.
