Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SEAL MY FATE(3) – TOP BET

Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Janse van Vuur

SEAL MY FATE is the form runner in this maiden contest and she rates the one to beat on her peak run. Interestingly, she was pegged back late by a Tarry newcomer over seven furlongs at the Vaal last time and her conditioner will be hoping there isn’t deja vu. Her experience of this track will stand her in good stead and the daughter of Horse Chestnut has strong claims. She could prefer this slight drop in distance. Once again, the first timers could give her most to fear and the Sean Tarry yard will have a good line to work with, with their three-year old entrant MYTHICAL MAGIC.

Race 4: FROSTY FRIDAY(11)

Jockey: Ian STURGEON – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

FROSTY FRIDAY is progressing smartly but she met a likely top sort when 2nd best over this trip at the Vaal, five weeks ago. She was in turn, almost three lengths clear of the 3rd placed finisher and the daughter of Western Winter should continue to progress. She tries the turn for the first time today but her good draw is a major plus and she rates as the one to beat.

Race 5: RUN FOR REVELRY(9)

Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Tarry S G

RUN FOR REVELRY is effective on both local surfaces and she has found her best form since returning from a break. She stayed on for 2nd in a sand feature last time and quickened smartly when outrun late into a close 3rd over this c & d in her penultimate outing. The daughter of Fort Beluga is well handicapped in this field and she has strong claims with a handy gallopping mass.

Race 8: GANESH(3)

Jockey: Zackey C – Trainer: Pettigrew S T

GANESH is the form choice and he finished strongly for a close 2nd over this c & d, four weeks ago. He should easily handle the rise in class and the Spectrum gelding has strong claims of going one better. His stable continues to turn out the winners. The three-year old BAAHIR relished the rise in ground as he made good improvement when finishing just over two lengths behind the top selection over this c & d four weeks ago. He is only 0.5kg better off with his conqueror but has a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and clearly has more to offer over similar distances. The Mike de Kock inmate has a definite chance of getting closer to the top selection.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: OFF THE MARK(2)

Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Tarry S G

This is an extremely poor field and huge caution is advised. Having said that, there are a few very fast types who could set a suicidal pace and that will favour the runners who finish well. OFF THE MARK has been disappointing in two post maiden runs over a mile but she would have benefitted from the break and the drop in her rating. Furthermore, she had cracking form before that and usually boasts a decent finish. The Tarry inmate is definitely better than her last two runs and she can cause the upset.
