The track specialist SILVER SCOOTER has continued his solid run of form and he finished well for 2nd in his comeback run over this c & d at a similar level, five weeks ago. He should strip much fitter today and is a huge contender on official ratings.

Once again an exciting finish is expected as three of the country’s top jockeys are engaged on the form runners in this handicap. YANKEE CAPTAIN represents the Tarry/Khumalo combination and the son of Captain Al is improving all the time. He has shown promise from day one and won his maiden in decent fashion over this c & d, second time out. Despite excuses, he went close over further at this level recently and could still be ahead of the handicapper. The bay colt is drawn best of all and is the one to beat.
Race 8: MISS TWEEDY(2)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW
Once again the same three brilliant jockeys could fight out the finish in this handicap over a mile. Fortune retains the ride on the Pettigrew charge MISS TWEEDY who has a swift turn of foot that will be conducive to this track. The daughter of Tiger Ridge is consistent and she ran on smartly to win her last start over seven furlongs, four weeks ago. That earned her a three-pound penalty but she has track experience and is at the top of her game. Furthermore, she is well drawn at gate 2 and has post- ed a victory over the mile. The likely sedate gallop will play right into her hands.
Race 9: INDZABA(4)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Brian WIID
INDZABA had some legitimate excuses for her below-par last few runs and the ten-week break would have helped her cause greatly. The well-related daughter of Judpot had some useful form prior to that, including finishing just off the money in a quality novice field over this c & d in late January. She has steadily dropped in the ratings and is clearly at a highly competitive mark, particularly at this lower-level and ‘Striker’ will make the difference, having shed the maiden on the Brian Wiid charge on this circuit. Her good draw is an obvious plus for the chestnut filly.
Race 4: KING OF THRONES(1)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN – Trainer: Robbie SAGE
This is an intriguing start to the Pick 6 and the engaging of in-form jockey Wrogemann could be key for the Robbie Sage inmate KING OF THRONES. This bay gelding adopted incorrect tactics when he perfor- med poorly over further last time but his regular pilot should revert to racing handy on the son of King’s Apostle who had some useful prior form. In fact, he seems most effective when dictating terms and he can easily get to the head of affairs despite his wide draw. The form of his last start was boosted when the 3rd placed finisher Go Fly A Kite won his subsequent effort.
