Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: DANZA(1)
Race 6: PERIGRINE(6)
Race 7: ATSO TIME(2)
Race 8: CAPRICORN RIDGE(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DANZA(1)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainers Laird A G

DANZA takes on numerous first timers and could make his experience count. The bay gelding has shown some decent form to date but was 2nd best behind a top quality sort over seven furlongs on the stands- ide course, nine weeks ago. He would have strengthened during the break and drops to maiden company on his seasonal debut. The son of Mambo In Seattle usually races handy so the switch to this tight track could suit him and he merits healthy respect from a good draw. Gavin Lerena takes the ride.

Race 2: TRIP TO HEAVEN(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Tarry S G

The Sean Tarry yard saddles two-thirds of the nine runners in this graduation field and the stable elect TRIP TO HEAVEN is clearly the horse to beat. S’manga Khumalo’s mount had excuses for his first flop of his short career but that was in a Grade 1 at Greyville last time out. He was returning from a 28 week absence as well, so possibly needed the effort. The son of Trippi showed top ability at feature level prior to that and he should strip much fitter on his seasonal debut. He won’t be fully wound-up for this event but is extremely well treated by the weights and is unbeaten over this c & d. The four-year old colt is expected to take a power of beating.

Race 6: PERFECT GRACE(3)
Jockey: Wrogemann G – Trainer: Pettigrew S T

PERFECT GRACE is the only representative from the Stuart Pettigrew stable on today’s card and this gelding boasts some solid post maiden form. He often finishes his races well and has struck up a successful partnership with this jockey. The Antonius Pius gelding is well drawn and looks set to improve his track record. Interestingly, he was beaten in the maidens by the runner who could give him most cheek today.

Race 8: FOYLE(6)
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: De Kock M F

This is another interesting and competitive handicap which should result in a thrilling finish. FOYLE has found his form since returning from a long break and he enjoys this c & d. He hasn’t won for a while but looks set to change that with Khumalo in the saddle.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 5: LEAH’S LITTLE LU(12)
Jockey: Storey C – Trainer: Tolmay W H

This is arguably the most intriguing event on today’s card, solely as four of the country’s best jockeys do battle on form horses who are unfortunately drawn wide. They will need to call on all their brilliant expertise but things could get tricky on this tight circuit. That could easily pave the way for an upset and LEAH’S LITTLE LUV is c & d suited and could make her good barrier position count. She has produced some fair recent performances from wide draws and has finally cracked a good draw.
