The four-year-old grey gelding has continued to revive his career on the Highveld, having run on well in each of his three local starts, the latest over nine furlongs in a workrider’s event. This extra furlong should be right up his alley and the longer straight will suit him perfectly.

BANKABLE TEDDY wasn’t disgraced with a huge mass at handicap level over ten furlongs at the Vaal recently and he is best in on official merit ratings today. The four-year-old bay colt had a very satisfactory last campaign in which he posted two victories on this track. His handy tactics will stand him in good stead in this small field and he should take a power of beating with Gavin Lerena in the saddle.

ANGEL’S POWER has found his form again since changing stable’s and he only tired late when finishing a creditable 3rd in stronger company over six furlongs at the Vaal, three weeks ago. He shoulders a big mass now but drops heavily in class and can go one better.
Race 7: PISTOLERO(1)
PISTOLERO is above-average and he proved that when producing a strong finish to win a good event despite being drawn wide on the Classic Track, two weeks ago. That victory earned him an expected seven-pound penalty but the son of Ashaawes still has plenty more to offer and he meets another very ordinary field. He is capable down the straight and has raced at this venue.

This is a tricky low-key handicap, featuring some pacesetters who should ensure a true run contest that will suit the top selection CHAMPIONS CUP. Firstly, it must be noted that the chestnut gelding was carded to race on 11/08 and his progress there must be monitored. He has shown much-improved form since being equipped with blinkers but has become costly to follow in his last two outings. Nevertheless, his only career victory came over this c & d and he will enjoy the likely strong gallop.
