Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: ULTRA QUICK (10)
Jockey: Lerena G Trainer: Janse van Vuur

ULTRA QUICK produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. He was slow into stride and had to be steadied at the 700m mark. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Querari would have come on from the run and should enjoy the extra distance on offer. With the natural progression that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

Race 5: CHEVRON (7)
Jockey: Hewitson L Trainer: Nieuwenhuizen

CHEVRON was impressive when winning his last start over 2800m at the Vaal. He lost a length at the start, but won with a ton in hand. Lyle Hewitson retains the ride this afternoon and from his good draw of two, he should notch up his third career victory.

Race 6: LAIRD OF BREEDON (6)
Jockey: Brown S Trainer: Spies C

LAIRD OF BREEDON should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was baulked at the 200m mark. The son of Crusade finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.

Race 7: THE CONTRACTOR (1)
Jockey: Kennedy W Trainer: Peter P

THE CONTRACTOR has been impressive in his last three victories, the latest of which was over a mile on this course. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. Warren Kennedy steps back into the saddle and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure once again.

Race 4: DANCING ARABIAN (1)
Jockey: Schwarz D Trainer: Magner R

DANCING ARABIAN is much better than her last start over 1400m at the Vaal. She should have finished closer that day as she hung from the 400m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has finished second in both her attempts over this distance and can shed her maiden tag.
