Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: BRENDEN JAMES (2)
Jockey: Penny J – Trainer: Fortune A
BRENDEN JAMES produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on this course, four weeks ago. He raced green, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that Mufasa and the second place finisher have come out and won since. The son of Coup De Grace would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
TOP BET FOR TODAY
Race 3: DON’T LOOK BACK (2)
Jockey: Klink N – Trainer: Gray St John
DON’T LOOK BACK has top consistent form lines to his credit. He finished 1.5 lengths behind OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts on this course. The 5yo gelding should take a power of beating.
Race 6: TRUE TO LIFE (3)
Jockey: Maujean C – Trainer: Janse van Vuur
TRUE TO LIFE is a filly taking on the males. She ran a fair race in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint last time, despite reported to be changing strides. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. She gets the blinkers re-fitted and should return to winning ways.
Race 9: COLD FACT (1)
Jockey: Mxoli P – Trainer: Peter P
COLD FACT won a very good race in her last start over this distance at the Vaal. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of What A Winter takes on older rivals for the first time. She gets the services of a 2.5kgs claiming apprentice which should help her cause. She shows good speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 8: MULETA (6)
Jockey: Herholdt F – Trainer: Sage R
MULETA showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. She showed pace, but was outrun in the closing stages by Greens. She has won three times and finished second once from eight starts over this distance. If confirming her recent improvement, she should be hard to peg back.
