Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: GLOBAL PLAYER (1)
Jockey: Mongqawa P Trainer: Peter P A
Trainer Paul Peter saddles five of the seven runners in this contest. GLOBAL PLAYER with workrider Phelisile Mongqawa in the saddle is the first selection. He set the pace over this C&D last time, but was caught in the latter stages. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick with the son of Global View and he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Top Bet for Today
Race 2: BON VIVANT (3)
Jockey: Simons R – Trainer: Janse van Vuuren
BON VIVANT produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She had to be steadied at the 350m mark that day, but ran on well at the finish. The daughter of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.
Race 3: SPECIALLY SELECT(8)
Jockey: Nyawo B – Trainer: Mike/Adam
SPECIALLY SELECTED produced an eye-catching debut effort over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He lost 2 lengths at the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Duke Of Marmalade would have gained from the experience and if jumping on terms, he should go one better.
Race 5: SOUTH BOY(1)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Janse van Vuuren
SOUTH BOY showed good speed in his last start over 1160m on the Standside course, but found one too good in the form of Raisetheredlantern. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Equal Stripes looks to be a progressive type and can shed his maiden tag.
Race 7: NORDIC REBEL(6)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Verdonese E
NORDIC REBEL has some decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished 1.7 lengths behind THE CONTRACTOR in his penultimate start. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways.
