Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SPECIALLY SELECT (11)
Jockey: Lerena G Trainer: Azzie M

SPECIALLY SELECTED cost himself winning last week as he lost a length at the start. However, the manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Duke Of Marmalade looks to have ability and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 3: DON’T LOOK BACK (2)
Jockey: Khumalo S Trainer: Gray St John

DON’T LOOK BACK has top consistent form lines to his credit. He fought hard when winning the Grade 3 Gold Bowl last time. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. He is in a very good space and should notch up his ninth career victory.

Race 5: SMORGASBORD (2)
Jockey: Kennedy W Trainer: Peter P A

SMORGASBORD ran a good race when finishing second behind Sheela in the Grade 2 SA Nursery last time. He was reported to be coughing that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. The son of Twice Over should love the step up to the 1400m. He clearly has ability and should take a power of beating.

Race 6: DESERT MIRACLE (7)
Jockey: Simons R – Trainer: De Kock M

DESERT MIRACLE is one of the better bets on the card. She produced an eye-catching effort when finishing second in the Grade 2 SA Fillies Nursery at level weights. The daughter of Dynasty will be at home over today’s distance. She looks to have some class about her and if not too green around the turn, she should take a power of beating.

Value Bet

Race 7: CHIJMES (3)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Verdonese E

CHIJMES finished 1.6 lengths behind EXPRESSFROMTHEUS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this distance. Gavin Lerena takes the ride this afternoon and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
