The inmate from the Alec Laird barn should take full advantage of the handicapper’s generosity in dropping him four pounds and he can cause the upset at this lower-level. His good draw is a major plus and he has experience under the lights.

KAHAL’S LEGACY must be forgiven for his below-par latest effort over further as he was unsettled at the start and eventually had to race unshod behind. He proved his capabilities with a solid penultima- te run over nine furlongs and the mile could be up his alley tonight. The Kahal gelding can make amends.

PROFIT RATIO was super-impressive in his last c & d victory at a similar level and he clearly has more to offer despite the resultant four-pound penalty. The Tarry inmate was returning from a 12-week break so should be fitter and a likely slow run affair, he will use his swift turn of foot to great effect.

NIGHT EDITOR is steadily dropping in the ratings after fair recent efforts and he dips in class tonight. He is favourably drawn and can produce a big effort for his 1.5kgs claiming apprentice who has just one ride on the card.

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Michael AZZIE
The inside draws could dominate proceedings in the night’s topliner and SPLENDID GARDEN may be rewarded for some useful recent form. He has a decent c & d record and produced a smart last run over an extra furlong.
