MAMBONICK returns from exactly one year off the track but her conditioner is a master in getting them ready. She showed smart ability and easily beat a decent sort en route to her maiden victory over this c & d, second time out. Her trainer is obviously pleased with her progress after a possible setback and she has loads of improvement to come. She takes a steep rise in class but must be closely followed in the betting market and merits obvious respect.

Race 4: SMARTIFACT(15)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY
SMARTIFACT found outside betting support and he didn’t fare too badly on debut over a mile on this track, eight weeks ago. He was understandably green but got going late and though well beaten, he wasn’t far adrift of the placed runners and would have come on with that experience. That formline has worked out extremely well, with his conqueror New Predator going down narrowly in The Dingaans to the subsequent Grade 1 Cape Guineas victor, Noah From Goa. This son of Lateral is bred to relish tonight’s rise in distance and he should make natural improvement in this weak field.
Race 5: MARMALADY(7)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING – Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS
There are some useful stayers in this Pinnacle Stakes Event, but the likely sedate gallop could harm a few runners’ chances. The slow pace could play right into the hands of the top rating MARMALADY though as she returns from a short eight-week break. She has already shown her staying prowess in Gauteng and boasts cracking recent form. She stayed on strongly for 2nd in a feature over nine furlongs last time and won her only c & d effort. She is slightly out at the weights but is still improving and can stake a serious claim here.
Race 6: MOOFEED(1)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK
MOOFEED bounced right back to form in his comeback run recently and he will be fitter tonight. He ran on strongly for a close 2nd over the minimum distance and will prefer this extra 160m. He now gets the services of in-form jockey Weichong Marwing and can certainly go one better despite top weight.
Race 7: FORT MEYERS(6)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY
FORT MEYERS is another Sean Tarry inmate who returns from almost a year’s layoff on tonight’s card. This well-related son of Fort Wood showed top ability prior to an obvious setback but his conditioner is probably pleased with his recovery. The half-brother to dual Grade 1 winner Copper Parade is versatile and he clearly has huge scope for progress. He must be closely followed in the betting market and though rising steeply in class, he merits healthy respect.
