WHORLY WHORLY is improving with each outing and he stayed on to finish 2nd best behind a quality sort over this c & d, second time out. The Great Britain gelding should continue to progress with experience and he can go close here.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS
REBEL BARON made smart improvement when pipped in the last stride over a mile on this track ten days ago and he should continue to progress. The slight drop in distance should suit trainer Houdalakis’ charge and top jockey Strydom has the task of negotiating an awkward draw. Still, the top selection should give a very good account of himself.
Race 5: NEW PREDATOR(4)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS – Trainer: Johan JANSE VAN VUUREN
The top class KANGAROO JACK played with FOREST FOX when easily beating the latter over this c & d three weeks ago and he should still confirm the form despite being 1.5kgs worse off with the runner-up. He clearly merits huge respect and in a race that could be run at a false pace, the son of Querari should display his brilliant turn of foot. Having said that, he is badly out at the weights with his fellow four-year-old NEW PREDATOR who is very effective when dictating terms. The latter was immediately rested after a poor last performance in a Cape feature. He finished just over two lengths behind KANGAROO JACK in a feature in early October and is now 6kgs better off with that rival. The imported colt should go very close from his good draw.

Race 6: DOLPHIN(4)
DOLPHIN has matured into a smart handicapper and he looks ready for tonight’s rise in class. He boasts solid recent form at lower-levels and he does give the indication that this minimum distance suits him best. The Trippi gelding runs well for ‘Striker’ and the pair should be competitive in this line-up.

Race 2: TRUMPETS CALLING(13)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Sean TARRY
There are a few form runners in this competitive maiden contest where an exciting finish is expected. TRUMPETS CALLING made an impressive sprint debut despite jumping from an unfavourable draw & drifting in the betting market. She was slow into stride and hung over the final furlong but the well-related daughter of Trippi still finished strongly for 4th over the six furlongs at the Vaal. She has a bit to find with the runner-up MADAM SECRETARY and 3rd placed entrant CHARTER but clearly has the most scope and she will certainly enjoy the extra furlong. Her good draw is an obvious plus on her debut around the turn.
