Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Sandown, Ffos Las and Navan on Sunday 10 November 2019.
Sandown Best Bets
Race 2 – No 4 CANELO
Trainer: Alan King
Jockey: Tom Cannon
While it’s easy to cast your eye on those with recent form in this tight novices’ limited handicap chase, the long absent CANELO is the most promising on view and can cause a minor upset on his first outing since the spring of 2018. A dyed in the wool chaser, everything he achieved over hurdles can be seen as a bonus and he signed of with two wins from his last three starts, landing a gamble at Fontwell.
Race 5 No 5 NEBUCHADNEZZAR
Trainer: Alan King
Jockey: Tom Cannon
The giant NEBUCHADNEZZAR should be suited by the likely strong pace set by Totterdown and the stiff uphill finish in this first handicap venture for the 4yo. He shaped well on his return to action at Wincanton and doesn’t look badly treated. His stable has made a fine start to the season.
Ffos Las Best Bets
Race 2 – No 1 PRUDHOMME
Trainer: Nick Williams
Jockey: Chester Williams
Winner of a bumper here in April, PRUDHOMME ran out an impressive scorer on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter where he revelled in the easy conditions. Under a penalty he’s hard to oppose in what will be an equally stamina sapping test. His task is eased by the 5lb claim of his capable conditional rider.
Race 4 No 6 YOUNG BULL
Trainer: Harry Whittington
Jockey: Daryl Jacob
YOUNG BULL needed his comeback outing when third to Jatiluwih at Wetherby and will be more the finished article for this maiden hurdle. He started 20-1 but for a few strides turning for home looked as if he might win. He had a good blow afterwards and is going to relish the very deep ground he’ll encounter here.
Race 6 – No 2 ANNIE BONNY
Trainer: Evan Williams
Jockey: Conor Ring
Connections of ANNIE BONNY have tinkered over the trip for her and now pull the mare back from three miles to two. This is probably in view of the severity of the going which will make it more like a two and a half miler. The market may be the best guide, as she was backed from 14-1 into 4-1 before finishing fifth to Stupid Cupid at Worcester.
Navan Best Bets
Race 1 – No 7 OH’HEREWEGO
Trainer: Val O’Brien
Jockey: R A Doyle
Front runner OH’HEREWEGO will be hard to peg back if getting his own way in front in this competitive handicap hurdle. The selection appears to be getting better with every race and stayed on doggedly to get the job done over a slightly longer trip at Tipperary last month. That’s good form to take into this, and he has a good chance to follow-up.
Race 8 No 13 JUNGLE JUNCTION
Trainer: Jessica Harrington
Jockey: Mr L McGuinness
Fakir D’Alene cost a king’s ransom after winning at the Larkhill point-to-point and will have many supporters but JUNGLE JUNCTION is the better value and can open his account. It was by only a length that he failed to reel in Front View in a 25-runner bumper at Punchestown and he’s delighted his connections preparing for this return to the track.
