Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing at Kempton Park, Beverley, Salisbury and Worcester.
Kempton Park Best Bets
Race 2: AFRICAN SWIFT (1)
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Jockey: Franny Norton
AFRICAN SWIFT didn’t contribute to her trainer’s bumper haul of winners at the Goodwood Festival but in finishing fourth in a hotly contested fillies’ maiden she announced she had ability. That ability will be more evident this time, and she can advertise the fact by getting off the mark.
Race 4: FARZEEN (1)
Trainer: Roger Varian
Jockey: Jack Mitchell
FARZEEN really took the eye with the way he opened his account at Redcar. Heavily backed, he made no mistake in powering three and a quarter lengths from Shaqwar. Apart from Midas Girl, nothing in the field looks dangerous and so it should prove plain sailing for the favourite to go in again.
Beverley Best Bet
Race 1: KENDRED SOUL (11)
Trainer: Jedd O’Keeffe
Jockey: Joe Garrity
Having run out of puff in the final strides of a six-furlong maiden at Catterick, KENDRED SOUL is pulled back to the minimum trip by his shrewd trainer. His good gate speed can serve him well without forgetting how much he will enjoy racing up the final hill at this stiff course.
Salisbury Best Bets
Race 1: AWEEMAWEH (2)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Charles Bishop
AWEEMAWEH colt has impressed in his homework and if avoiding running green can be a factor for a yard that is not renowned for sending out first time out winners. He seems straightforward, is well tutored and should give a good account.
Race 4: ALFRED BOUCHER (3)
Trainer: Henry Candy
Jockey: David Probert
Hat trick seeker ALFRED BOUCHER can continue his run of form although he will need to step up again. The grey could hardly be in better form and shaped particularly well in his winding-up gallop for this.
Worcester Best Bets
Race 4: CARDY (2)
Trainer: Harry Whittington
Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
Having opened her account in a weak mares’ maiden hurdle at Worcester, CARDY gets into this handicap off a mark of 105 which puts her right in the mix. Despite her rider losing a stirrup, she went on to win comfortably and she will relish this extended three miles. Her trainer could hardly be in better form.
Race 7: WILLHELLBREAKLOOSE (7)
Trainer: Alan King
Jockey: Tom Cannon
The hooded WILLHELLBREAKLOOSE made a good fist of trying to go from gate to site at Southwell only to be overhauled late in the game by Stoney Stream. He appears to have gone the right way at home and with the benefit of that outing under his belt can go one better.
