UK Racing Tips – Monday 2 December 2019

Jockeys ride horses

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing at Plumpton, Musselburgh and Wolverhampton.

Plumpton Best Bets

Race 4: COGITAL (4) (Each Way)
Trainer: Amanda Perrett
Jockey: Leighton Aspell

From a stable that does well with its small jumping string, COGITAL is ready to endorse the promise of his recent outing on the Flat at Lingfield. Under an exaggerated waiting ride he stayed on past beaten horses for a frame finish, beaten only seven lengths by the winner Road To Paris. He’s schooled satisfactorily and can give market leader Adicci plenty to think about.

Race 5: TZAR DE L’ELFE (7)
Trainer: Richard Rowe
Jockey: James Davies

Even though he regularly finds one to beat him there’s nothing ungenuine about TZAR DE L’ELFE who looked unlucky when third to Crowley Tender on his reappearance over course and distance last month. Always travelling and jumping best, he made a howler at the fourth last which completely took the wind out of his sails. He nevertheless kept on gamely and is now poised to make amends.

Race 6: SIXTIES SECRET (3) (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West
Jockey: Marc Goldstein

While there’s no concrete evidence that SIXTIES SECRET is ready to regain the winning thread, that comment can be applied to most of her foes in this weak handicap hurdle. The selection was unable to convert in a seller last time but given the rub of the green, I expect her to get into the shake-up. She looks sure to be sent off a double-figure price which if happening represents value.

Musselburgh Best Bets

Race 2: PAMMI (4)
Trainer: Jim Goldie
Jockey: Callum Bewley

Dual purpose horse PAMMI has more scope for progression than most in the field and after three pleasing runs looks interesting moving into handicaps. She earned on her first two starts and on handicap debut ran better than her final placing indicates behind Jessiemac at Ayr where she tried to make all and kept on when headed.

Race 4: HEY BOB (4)
Trainer: Chris Grant
Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

The strong travelling HEY BOB didn’t seem to handle the stiff Hexham track last time and is taken to bounce back on this flatter course which suits hold up horses. He’d previously run out a smooth scorer at Sedgefield and with conditions in his favour is poised for a big run.

Wolverhampton Best Bets

Race 6: ROUND THE ISLAND (11)
Trainer: Richard Whitaker
Jockey: Phil Dennis

Although he reserves his best running for Pontefract, ROUND THE ISLAND can give us a good shot at this facing mainly out of form rivals. He was ridden too prominently at Lingfield last time and needs to be settled with cover before coming through horses at the end. After a couple of disappointing efforts the blinkered gelding can bounce back.

Race 7: INNAMORARE (1)
Trainer: Gavin Cromwell
Jockey: PJ McDonald

When this trainer brings horses from Ireland they needs respecting and INNAMORARE can consolidate his impressive Dunstall Park strike-rate. Fresh from a convincing success at Dundalk which saw him come out of the wilderness the 4yo looks likely to serve up a repeat and is the best bet on the card.
