GRIMALDI produced an eye-catching debut effort over a mile at Turffontein, five weeks ago. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Dynasty would have come on from the outing and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
Race 8: TRAVELING WILBUR (4)
Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Houdalakis M
TRAVELING WILBURY followed up her maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests she will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. She meets a similar type of field and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, she should be the one to beat.
Race 9: CROWN GUARDIAN (4)
Jockey: Zackey C – Trainer: Botes B
CROWN GUARDIAN notched up the hat-trick in his last start over this distance. He moved up very well and found extra where it matters most. He does take a slight rise in class today, but may still be ahead of the handicapper and should be up to the task at hand.

Jockey: Yeni M – Trainer: Matchett P F
LEGAL STAR was reported to have choked up in her post maiden effort over a mile and that outing is best ignored. She did however find plenty of betting support that day which suggests she had been showing good work back at home. The daughter of Legislate takes a drop in class this afternoon and from her good draw of two, she can get back to winning ways.
