Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SHE’S A CRACKER (6)

Jockey: Yeni M  Trainer: Sage R

SHE’S A CRACKER has produced two decent efforts since shedding her maiden tag. She set the pace in her last start over this C&D, but was outrun in the latter stages. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and the combination should be tough to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 4: MARENGO (5)

Jockey: Simons R  Trainer: Magner R

MARENGO took on much stronger in his last start over this distance. He raced from just off the pace that day and stayed on at the finish. He has finished second once and third once from three starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class today and can get back to winning ways.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 6: BARTHOLDI (5)

Jockey: Khumalo S  Trainer: Azzie M

BARTHOLDI won a very good race in his last start over 1500m on the Turffontein Inside course. He raced from a handy position and won with a ton in hand. The son of Act Of War makes his debut for the Mike and Adam Azzie stable. If settled into his new surroundings, he should take a power of beating.

Race 7: PECAN PIE (7)

Jockey: Khumalo S  Trainer: Laird A

PECAN PIE followed up her maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1450m on this course. She was slow into stride that day, but raced handy and stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished ninth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle will enjoy the step up to the mile and can get back to winning ways.

VALUE BET

Race 3: BARAK (3)

Jockey: Brown S – Trainer: De Kock M F

BARAK’S last three starts after returning from a 12-week break have been fair. The son of Master Of My Fate won his only attempt over this C&D. He gets the blinkers re-fitted this afternoon which could be the difference. Sherman Brown knows him well and the combination can get back to winning ways.
