Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: NONDWENI’S FILLY(4)
Race 2: MATCHLESS FLAG(4)
Race 4: DESERT SHEIK(4)
Race 6: MEXICAN GLORY(5)
Race 1: NONDWENI’S FILLY(4)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG – Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW
NONDWENI’S FILLY loves the sand but she has already been costly to follow. She gets going too late in her races but has finished runner-up in all three of her appearances on this track. She again got going late when beaten three parts of a length into 2nd over a mile in her penultimate performance on this course. She didn’t seem to stay nine furlongs three runs back but that was on the turf so she is hard to assess. However, the manner in which she runs on over a mile on the sand, suggests that this trip will suit her and she can exit the maiden ranks today.
Race 4: ACROSS THE ICE(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Sean TARRY
ACROSS THE ICE loves racing over this c & d and he recently bounced back to form after two indifferent performances on the sand. He has work to do at the weights here but Strydom has a great record on the son of Western Winter and he should still be competitive.
Race 6: MISS K(2)
Jockey: Deon SAMPSON – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN
MISS K has taken extremely well to this surface and she boasts 4 wins from her last 6 starts on this track. Interestingly, all four of those victories have come over this trip and she was beaten a long neck by TOMORROW’S MISS, last time out. She is now 1kg better off with her conqueror and has strong claims.
Race 7: DOUBLE BIND(9) – TOP BET
Jockey: Nooresh JUGLALL – Trainer: Paul MATCHETT
DOUBLE BIND relished the switch to the sand when he bounced right back to his best to cause a major upset, last time out. He showed a smart turn of foot to beat subsequent winner ESTANCIA going away over 1450m in graduation company, that day and will be even better over the mile here. He has the class to handle today’s opposition and he jumps from pole position.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 3: DASHING QUEEN(1) (Each Way)
Jockey: Louis NHLAPO – Trainer: David RAHILLY
DASHING QUEEN has issues and was rested for 58 weeks so the switch to this surface could prove ideal for the daughter of Ravishing. She has already shown plenty of promise and met some highly quality sorts early on in her career. She is lightly raced and has lots of room for improvement. She clearly needed her comeback run in treacherous conditions on the turf over seven furlongs but she was making eye-catching late progress for 4th. The form shows that she is well held by today’s likely favourite, CRYSTAL’S REVENGE but the latter enjoyed the run of the race in the going on that occasion. The David Rahilly trained filly will strip much fitter today and she could be a totally different proposition on this track.
