Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: SHIRLA(2)
Race 3: TELL MY STAR(3)
Race 4: TAYBA(9)
Race 8: HAWKSWORTH(1)
Race 2: MANZAI(12)
Jockey: Chad LITTLE – Trainer: Paul PETER
MANZAI was withdrawn due to a bruised foot when carded to race on 18/06 so his trainer is obviously pleased with his progress since. He has shown promise to date but returns from a fifteen week break. He made an eye-catching debut when runner-up in yielding conditions over this trip on the turf and then had two fair subsequent starts. His trainer’s horses usually enjoy racing on this surface and he gets equipped with blinkers today.
Race 3: FIVE RINGS(1)
Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS – Trainer: Corne SPIES
Trainer Corne’ Spies’ runners often gets his runners to the track fit and well and that was the case when FIVE RINGS returned from a layoff, previously. She was caught in the last stride over this c & d that day after setting the pace. She has ability but is plauged with issues and had moderate form after that promising comeback run. However, she was rested a further 27 weeks and that break would have helped her cause. She is handily drawn at barrier 5.
Race 5: CROKE PARK(8)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Tyrone ZACKEY
CROKE PARK has come well since a layoff and moved up well before finishing second best behind the heavily supported Lord Hawke over six furlongs on this course, last time. He picked up a three pound penalty for his troubles but is possibly even better over this extra distance and will have the services of Strydom today.
Race 6: HENRY HIGGINS(4) – TOP BET
HENRY HIGGINS continues to be rock-solid on this course and has done extremely well with Strydom up. The son of Caesour handled his five pound penalty well when he drew off late to win over this c & d in his penultimate outing. He finished a fair fourth on the turf last time but could again take some beating, even with his three pound penalty.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 8: MAJI MOTO(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Akash AUCHARUZ – Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
A very competitive end to the day’s proceedings but MAJI MOTO is holding his form well and could be up to the task today. He is ideally c & d suited and ran on well for second behind GABRONZA last time out. He meets his conqueror on 3.5kgs better terms and he has a bright chance of reversing the form. The son of Malhub is favourably drawn.
