Winning Form Best Bets
Race 3: MIGHTY MO(1)
Race 4: LORD HAWKE(2)
Race 5: GLITTER ALLEY(1)
Race 8: THE DISCIPLE(17)
Race 1: COSMIC TOM(11)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS
COSMIC TOM found support when he made his promising debut over this c & d, ten weeks ago. The son of Black Minnaloushe flashed plenty of speed that day but met an experienced sort and came off second best at the wire. His trainer has given him the necessary time to strengthen since and he should make plenty of natural improvement. His yard has come to form in recent times and the gelding gets the expert services of champion jockey Piere Strydom.
Race 2: PANJO(5) – TOP BET
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Michael AZZIE
PANJO has come extremely well since trying the sand and notched up his second win in four starts here, last time out. However, the manner of victory was breath-taking as Strydom rather surprisingly took the son of Tiger Ridge to the front and he won in a common canter from his more experienced stable companion. He takes on much stronger today and received the maximum punishment, but has only been beaten once from three starts over this c & d. He has tons of improvement to come on this course and looks an exciting prospect for the upcoming Emerald Cup. This is certainly his toughest test to date.
Race 3: MIGHTY MO(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: St John GRAY
MIGHTY MO has taken to this surface nicely in her last two starts and has cracked a good draw today. She has run on nicely in each of her last two starts and did really well from a wide draw over six furlongs, last time. The daughter of Jam Alley will relish this extra distance and should take a power of beating with Gavin Lerena in the irons.
Race 6: OLYMPIC SPRING(6)
OLYMPIC SPRING quickly put her poor penultimate effort behind her when she stayed on for second over a mile on this course, last time. She has shown some very useful form on this track and both of her wins here have come over this c & d. The engaging of Strydom could prove significant as he partnered her to an effortless victory from the front over this c & d, three starts ago. That penultimate outing was all wrong and she can be excused that effort and can reverse the form with ELEGANT BAY. The latter won a good contest over the mile on this course last time but may have received too big a penalty for her to follow up. Also, she is yet to place from three efforts on this course and she could be found wanting over the final furlong.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 8: MAJI MOTO(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: S’Manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
There should be lots of pace here and that will suit MAJI MOTO. He has come really well in recent outings and was well handled when he got up late to win a similar contest over this c & d, last time out. He may have escaped with the minimum two pound penalty and can follow up.He could enjoy Khumalo’s patient riding style and merits healthy respect.
