Race 2: SILENT FORCE(12)
Jockey: Francis SEMELA – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The De Kock yard is represented by SILENT FORCE here and once again their charge looks set to dominate the betting market. It must be noted that she was carded to race at this venue last Thursday so her progress there must obviously be monitored. The daughter of Horse Chestnut has taken nicely to this surface as she improved significantly in her last two sprints over six furlongs. She should have little trouble with this extra 250m and gets the champion workrider, Francis Semela in the irons. She should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Aupa CHALALA – Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

CLUB CAPTAIN has produced all three of her career wins over this c & d and she has been steadily drop- ping in the ratings. The daughter of Captain Al has been taking on much stronger opposition for quite some time now and drops heavily in class today. She should be very competitive, even with top weight of 61.5kgs and she should take some beating.

Race 6: TAKAAMUL(5)
Jockey: Tshepiso MOAGI – Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

TAKAAMUL is a course specialist who bounced back to form with a pleasing last effort over this c & d, three weeks ago. The son of Muhtafal moved up strongly before being outrun late into a close third. He was given a two pound penalty for his troubles but receives 4kgs from the three-year old likely short-priced favourite SOLE MIO and should go very close.

Race 8: SET TO STRIKE(8)

Jockey: *Not declared – Trainer: Roy MAGNER
SET TO STRIKE has improved in her last few starts and she will be cherry-ripe on her third run after the layoff today. The daughter of Kahal was far from disgraced when she only lacked extra late in finishing 3rd against much stronger over this c & d, three weeks ago. She didn’t escape the handicapp- er’s wrath as she picked up the maximum eight pound penalty but is drawn in pole and could still be the right one against this class of opposition.

Race 3: JIMMYS LIGHTNING(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Aupa CHALALA – Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

This is an interesting contest that features some very speedy sorts and there is every chance that they could cut each other’s throats. The runner that could profit at a huge price is the Leon Erasmus trained, JIMMYS LIGHTNING who gets equipped with blinkers for the first time. His career best effort came over six furlongs on this course, albeit he finished a well beaten fifth. However, he had excuses in his penultimate effort and that run must be completely ignored. He then faded badly on the turf last time but is back on arguably his best surface today and could make some decent improvement.
