TOP BET

Race 1: INANINSTANT(12)

Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Sean TARRY

INANINSTANT made the expected improvement from her fair sprint debut when she finished well despite a wide draw over seven furlongs, second time out. That was her first run around the turn in a competitive field and the daughter of Silvano clearly has plenty more to offer. She is bred to love every bit of today’s extra 300m and should take a power of beating from the best draw. Gavin Lerena retains the ride on the Sean Tarry inmate.

Race 3: VEE MAN(1)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean Tarry

VEE MAN is improving smartly with each outing since returning from the long break and there was plenty of merit in his last performance. He raced wide from his awkward draw in the yielding conditions over this distance at Turffontein but stayed on well for 2nd in a competitive field. The well-bred son of Visionaire faces much weaker this time around and he will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the rest. He has experience racing down the straight and should take a power of beating.

Race 8: ABASHIRI(1)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

The top class three-year-old ABASHIRI is having his final prep run before the Grade 2 Guineas at the end of the month and he is extremely well-weighted on official ratings, in this graduation contest. The Michael Azzie inmate has had four career runs to date but he is still learning to race as he showed when eventually thrashing a decent field in a listed contest over nine furlongs, four weeks ago. His conditioner’s decision not to go to Cape Town could prove a masterstroke and the son of Go Deputy has huge claims of landing the upcoming Triple Crown. Whilst he understandably won’t be fully tuned-up for this event, his sheer class should shine through and he will take a power of beating.

Race 9: GO FLY A KITE(1)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

GO FLY A KITE can be forgiven his dismal first run on Turffontein’s inside track last time and he had some useful form prior to that. He does appear held by a few of today’s rivals on that performance but will be an entirely different proposition over this distance on this circuit. He was only outrun late into 3rd over twelve furlongs in his penultimate run.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: ANGEL’S POWER(5)

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Brian WIID

The three-year-old ANGEL’S POWER was expected to perform better at feature level in his last two runs and his conditioner was left with little option but to geld the son of Miesque’s Approval. He showed lots of early talent and his head defeat to subsequent three-time winning African Ruler stands out in his formline. The Brian Wiid inmate would have strengthened during the break and he clearly has lots more improvement in him. The engaging of ‘Striker’ is encouraging and the bay gelding should go very well, despite his big mass.
