Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: NAHOON BEACH(1)
Race 2: HAWAIIAN SUN(8)
Race 6: APPLE TART(1)
Race 12: INDIGO PIXIE(5)
Race 2: ONE MAN’S DREAM(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN
ONE MAN’S DREAM has continued his promise for his new conditioner and now has his third run after the break. He tried hard to peg back the highly rated Lance over 1160m at Turffontein last time but finished a creditable second. The son of Greys Inn should go very well in this contest.
Race 4: VIRGO’S BABE(1) – TOP BET
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: DAVID Nieuwenhuizen
VIRGO’S BABE is a classy type that has trained on this season and she has had satisfactory outings in feature races, recently. Her conditioner has found the ideal contest for the daughter of Malhub to record that much deserved third career win. Last season’s Nursery winner is extremely well treated by today’s weights and she takes a big drop in class. Furthermore, she gets the services of top jockey Anton Marcus.
Race 5: SHADOW OFHIS SMILE(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF
SHADOW OFHIS SMILE has a huge reputation and he enhanced that with a scintillating 9.25 lengths debut victory, ten weeks ago. He was considered good enough to contest a feature next time out and even went off as the favourite. However, he was racing around the turn for the first time and probably took on too much too soon. He was beaten seven lengths over seven furlongs that day but drops to a much more suitable class of opposition today. He races down the straight for the first time but reverts to sprinting and is the one to beat. Having said that, he meets some talented sorts and will be made to work for victory.
Race 11: SUPERTUBE(14)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Sean TARRY
SUPERTUBE built on his fair debut when he stayed on quite well for 4th over a mile at Turffontein, three weeks ago. He is rated by his conditioner and has attracted betting support in both his starts. He met a competitive line-up last time and has lots of scope for improvement. Of course, he made his debut on this track and he should go very close in today’s field with Delpech up.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 6: CLASSY LOOKER(2) (Each Way)
The value in this contest could lie with CLASSY LOOKER. This daughter of Mogok has had many chances but she is holding her form well. She came from far back to finish a decent third in yielding going over this trip at Turffontein last time, after being drawn poorly. She is equally effective down the straight and she finished well clear of today’s likely favourite, APPLE TART on the run behind Go Dutch over six furlongs on this track.
