FLYING DREAM has had a dozen chances in the maiden ranks but she boasts consistent recent form and can pull this off from the best draw. The form of her last start was boosted when the 3rd placed finisher Lindy Lu won a good subsequent contest and this daughter of A P Arrow should make that track experience count.
Race 4: TIME TO BE GREAT(1)
Jockey: Mpumelelo MJOKA – Trainer: Grant MAROUN
The Flaming Mad formline of 28/06 was given a boost when the juvenile Shwanky landed the betting coup with ease seven days ago. The speedy TIME TO BE GREAT and FLIGHT MODE represent that form here and the former got closest to the victor when he only tired late in that outing. He will again benefit from the 4kgs apprentice allowance and can finally exit the maiden ranks.
Race 5: RONNIE ROCKET(6)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: John VOS
RONNIE ROCKET is consistent and Strydom has a good record on the three-year-old bay gelding. The pair fought on gamely for a close 3rd in an exciting finish last time despite being drawn widest of all around the turn. The Noordhoek Flyer gelding ran on well to beat RAFA by just over one length over this c & d in his penultimate effort and can still maintain that form despite being 2.5kgs worse off at the weights with the latter. He is his yard’s only entrant on the day.

Race 6: HONOLUA BAY(4)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Dianne STENGER
HONOLUA BAY was probably outclassed when she took on stronger in her weak last run but she will prefer today’s drop in class. She had some decent form leading up to that last run and ran on well for a close 3rd over this c & d under Strydom despite being drawn the widest in her penultimate outing. The daughter of Argonaut was docked two pounds recently and she could make that count today.
Race 2: BELENOS(3)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Alex LAIRD
BELENOS has some fair recent form but was probably not given the ideal ride by an inexperienced appie recently. Still, the Alec Laird inmate made steady progress to finish just out of the money in that pinnacle event over this distance. He has certainly improved with blinkers and now gets top pilot ‘Striker’ in the saddle. He is a full 6kgs better off with the fancied runner VAL ET AL on their meeting in the Egoli Mile. The son of Judpot can reverse the form here.
