Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: SEVEN LEAGUE BOOTS(8)

Jockey: Weichong MARWING – Trainer: Johan JANSE VAN VUUREN

SEVEN LEAGUE BOOTS has shown useful ability in his four runs to date and he stayed on for a good 3rd in a quality maiden field over a mile, two weeks ago. That form could certainly be worth following and the Mambo In Seattle gelding has plenty of scope for more progress. He has track experience and should go close from another handy draw.

Race 7: DAWN RAID(2)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW

There are some above-average three-year-olds in this handicap and an exciting clash could be on the cards. Despite just eight runners going to post, there are a few natural pacesetters who will ensure a likely decent gallop. DAWN RAID produced the run of his career when he finished a good 4th in a feature over seven furlongs recently, despite finding traffic problems at a crucial stage. He went close over nine furlongs in his penultimate run behind Off To Gaul and had SCHEME OF THINGS much further adrift. The top selection has experience on this track and the fast pace will play right into his hands. He is clearly above-average and should go close.

Race 8: NESSPRESSO(9)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

The Lucky Houdalakis stable holds a strong hand in this competitive handicap and the lightly raced three-year-old NESSPRESSO could be the right one. She won her maiden over shorter at her fourth attempt and then made steady progress for a decent 4th in a three-year-old handicap, next time out. She now faces older rivals but with another handy galloping mass and the daughter of Western Winter has plenty of scope for improvement. Her pedigree suggests that she could relish this extra distance and must be respected.

TOP BET

Race 9: SONG OF HAPPINESS(14)

Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The expensive purchase SONG OF HAPPINESS produced a quality debut over this c & d recently but only after she took a rigorous ride by Marcus. The daughter of Giant’s Causeway set the pace and fought on gallantly when beaten a neck into 2nd on that occasion. She had some decent form runners behind her that day and that experience would have brought her on immensely. The Mike de Kock inmate faces a very ordinary field and she should take a power of beating.

.VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: MOVE LIKE JAGGER(2)

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

There are a few natural pacesetters in this competitive handicap and they could harm each other’s chances. The likely strong gallop will play into the hands of those runners who finish well and the course specialist MOVE LIKE JAGGER could profit most. The Daylami gelding has been facing stronger for some time now and he went close behind a quality sort, who subsequently placed in a Grade 2, in his penultimate run over this c & d. The Goosen inmate will again be partnered by ‘Striker’ and he should go close.
