He will relish today’s nine furlongs and undoubtedly represents the stronger formline.

A big field contests this low-key handicap which could easily turn into a boat-race between two smart types. MALINGA, expectedly relished the rise in trip and he landed a shrewd betting coup when running on strongly to win a similar contest over this c & d, four weeks ago. The well-related bay gelding clearly escaped with just a three-pound penalty and he holds strong claims once again. His pole barrier position is a huge advantage.

Top jockey Piere Strydom partnered the improving three-year-old gelding RACETHEGREENLIGHT to an expected easy maiden win over six furlongs on this course recently and quite surprisingly, he has engaged himself on this solitary ride on today’s nine-race programme. The inmate from the Geoff Woodruff yard is clearly progressive and his jockey obviously feels that he has plenty more to offer. He should be closely followed in the betting market.

The four-year-old HONOLUA BAY has solid credentials on this track and she represents decent each/way value with her low mass today. She finished three parts of a length behind the decent three-year-old SHWANKY over this track & trip in her penultimate outing and now meets that rival on 2.5kgs better terms. The Argonaut filly will be cherry-ripe on her third run back from a break and she can handle the rise in class.
